During my trip to the Columbia River Gorge, I stopped at the Lewis and Clark State Recreation Site and enjoyed seeing the botanical gardens there. there are nice trees and places for picnics as well.

We needed a short break from I 84 and pulled in here to have a snack and rest awhile. It is an oasis off the Interstate with large grassy areas, huge trees, clean restrooms and a shady parking lot. Lewis and Clark had investigated the Sandy River here and there are various historic markers detailing their local expeditions. Worth a stop if you need to stretch

It is a great stopping point and offers a lot of outdoorsy activities. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy what the park has to offer.
