pinnacles trail

The pinnacles is located at the terminus of a paved road, and they can be reached by a drive of about 15 minutes from the Crater Lake lodge. The pinnacles, which are all located immediately next to the trail (and just to the east of the trail) take the form of hundreds of geological formations resembling pointed rocket ships from science fiction movies from the 1950s or, alternatively, a village of pointy church steeples. Either way, the view of the strange and beautifully shaped pinnacles is an intriguing wonder to behold. At a couple of positions on the Pinnacles Trail, one can find a bench for resting. Excellent photographs can be taken by a hand-held camera, or by a camera on a tripod. What I recommend, is a tripod that can be extended to about six feet. This is because, at least in my case, I found that the best camera angles included those where the camera lens was located about six feet off the ground. If you have children or pets, you will need to monitor them extremely carefully, because the Pinnacles are located on the steep walls of a canyon. This same warning holds for some of the trails that skirt the edge of Crater Lake.
