We became wine club members after our first visit to Marchesi - such delicious wines, and what a lovely setting. We feel like we took a mini vacation every time we visit.

A local in Skamania had recommended this vineyard. Then a shop owner in Hood River also recommended it. We went wine tasting here and had 6 varieties, I loved every one of them. The prices are right on target, too. Must try.

I have been to dozens of wineries up and down the west coast and this is – according to my family and I – one of the best two (see rating for other best: Fratelli Perrata, Paso Robles, CA; it’s almost the same review). We have fairly mature palates when it comes to wine and this place never disappoints. The atmosphere is soooo comfortable, and you can even find the winemaker/owner roasting chestnuts – yes, over an open fire – in the fall. The indoor tasting area is so cozy with a little wood stove type heater and comfortable décor – I think there is one couch inside as well. Outside is where you really want to be though! In the summer the patio is wide open often boasting views of the majestic Mt. Hood and always featuring a sea of grape vines. I might even prefer winter, when the patio is wrapped and standing heaters are strategically placed around the tables and patio couches; you can even find a blanket if you get too chilly, and if you’re lucky one of the vineyard cats will get close enough to warm you up a bit too. The winemaker’s wife is almost always pouring along with a few others, all of whom are sincerely kind, and the owner, in the fashion of Italian hospitality, will come around and greet guests and talk about wine and country. This is a must stop on any wine tour – even if it’s the only stop (I also recommend joining their wine club for great deals!). We never miss it! GO TO HERE.

We have a regular gals trip to Marchesi. We bring our picnic and taste the lovely wines. People and wine are terrific! Very welcoming and they bring your wine tastes to you at a table while you relax and enjoy! We like all the wines and have become club members!

Very cool vibe for tasting wine, and I agree that it is a lovely tasting ROOM, but unfortunately I didn't care for any of the wines that we tasted. I think that this is a great place to hang out with a group, bring some snacks, have a party etc. but not necessarily a good place if you are looking for great wine. Also, there were a million fruit flies!

Excellent vineyard and wines. Very relaxed atmosphere, and professional staff. The owner, Franco, has always been there during our visits, and is very friendly and hospitable. The wines are very good. The food is always good, and plentiful. We joined their wine club, and are very glad we did. The $6.00 dollar tasting fee is waived, if you join their wine club, and their are other amenities that go along with joining.

I researched a few locations online and I liked the Marchesi website the best; however, I was slightly disappointed. It was a bit crowded and the wines were just ok. The breadsticks were awesome lol

This Italian Winery is the best if you can't get to Italy. The atmosphere is relaxing and inviting and every wine taste flight is pure perfection. Marchesi also has a cheese, bread and sausage plate (for a fee) ( complimentary for wine club members) to compliment your tasting. If your wanting to sit outside they offer heater's and cozy blanket's to keep the chill off while enjoying a crisp fall afternoon...A place not to miss if your in the Hood River area and you want to wine taste.

My wife and I started our anniversary weekend here and it was perfect! Lots of sitting areas, fantastic hors d'oeuvres (we had the antipasto), and very good wine. Great place to hang out for a half hour OR hours. We visited on a weekend day which was very busy, but late enough in the day that we were still able to find a place to sit and enjoy each other's company whilst looking out on the vineyard and the rows of grapevines. We decided on this trip that we would be back here sooner rather than later, as we found it to be right up our alley. The staff is friendly and attentive and made us feel very welcome. The other wineries in the Hood River area will be hard pressed to beat this place! They even had "valet" parking, just another perk for this wonderful winery. Make this stop a priority if you are doing the fruit loop or just out in the Hood River Valley looking for a winery or two to stop at.

We're touring some of Oregon's wineries and Marchesi was perfect. Lovely heated outside comfortable seating areas. Very reasonable price for tasting, and some excellent wine to savor. We were lucky with the fall weather which made for a great day out

Just visited here as part of a special birthday celebration with a group of friends. The chalkboard out front said, "Start Inside", so two of us ventured forward while some of our party were still walking in. We walked past full tables and chairs of many lively groups into a small shop with a bar. It was so crowded, with babies crying and people jostling, and we weren't sure what to do. We actually started to walk back out to the rest of our party and I asked my friend, "What do you think? Should we just forget this?" Just then, a very tall guy walked by and said, "There's room for four, just out there," and pointed to an area around the side of the shop, under a grape vine covered trellis. My friend said, "We don't have to do what the hippy says!" But I wanted somebody to direct me, and I thought he seemed more like a hipster than a hippy, so I took our party to the settee and two chairs around a low table on the veranda. We sat for a while and collected our thoughts. Turns out you really do have to start inside, so our most intrepid friend went inside, paid the $6 each "flight" fee, and handed us our glasses with the first tasting through the window out to the trellised veranda. From there, it got easier and easier, as a waitress continued to bring out bottles of wine and complete our flight of one white and six red wines. The wines were tasty, the sun was warm, the place was lively, and a good time was had by all.

Not only is this region breathtaking, the wine tasting was lovely, as was the staff. I thoroughly enjoy my short visit. I left with a beautiful bottle of wine (and a little buzz!)

We really enjoyed visiting the winery. The people were very helpful. There is a great old meat slicer there for great itallian sausage. We shared a bottle of excellent wine and some snacks. Highly recommended.

We were working our way through the fruit loop and were about done with wine for the day (this was about 6 hours into our fruit loop tour). We decided to stop at one more place, and ended up choosing Marchesi Vineyards off the map - are we ever glad we did! The service here was unparalleled and setting was perfection. It was an extraordinarily hot day and we had spent more of our time sampling wine around a bar at the other locations. But here, we were told to take a table, and they would bring the samples out to us. This was a much slower "savouring" of the experience, opposed to a rushed through "sales" approach to wine tasting. The gentleman behind the counter was polite, knowledgeable and helpful. Sitting on the patio among the vineyards was beautiful and the best part was that they had these misters on, providing a way to cool down in the shade. It was PERFECT. My partner in crime wasn't feeling too great, so we didn't stay too long, but when I return I would love to go back, have some antipasti, and spend some more time. And next time, I would do the fruit loop in reverse maybe and start here (drive it counter clockwise from Hood River). Glad we didn't miss out.

While taking the "Fruit Loop," we had our fill of fruity--it was time for rich, Italian-style red wines so we went to Marchesi Vineyards. We went up to the bar and ordered our tastings, and we were told to take a table anywhere and they would come take care of us. So, we found a table that was actually in the vineyard rows, where we could view the snowy mountain peak and the setting sun. And take care of us, they did. Our lovely server brought us the wines in order as though choreographed, as soon as we could savour the last sip, the next wine was being poured, Although the tasting patio was very busy, she knew where each group was in their flight and kept the wonderful wine flowing without disrupting the flow of conversations.
