Beautiful country. We rode the tram to the top of the mountain and waited for the fog to clear. It never did! We were disappointed, but will just have to plan to go back again.

We enjoyed this loop drive. Having not spent much time in this part of the state it was well worth it.

We spent 2 nights at the Wallowa Lake RV Park by the River. Folks there were very friendly. Very convenient location to everything on the south side of the lake. The village is very cute with your choice of places to get ice cream and play miniature golf. We rented a small motorboat from the marina for a couple of hours to fish on the lake and caught 4 rainbow trout. The staff at the marina was very helpful in getting our 10 year old outfitted with a rod and reminded us now to tie the hooks on! We hiked up the Chief Joseph Trail to the waterfall--can't go any further as the bridge is out--and had a wonderful view of the lake. Best to start at the end of the road up by the power plant and NOT through the state park (trail seems to have fallen into disuse on that side). Also rode the Wallowa Lake Tram, which is an AMAZING ride, and hiked around the summit in the snow. We could have easily stayed a couple more days, but had to get back on the road.

Nice lake with big beach. Beautiful water lots of things to do, tent lots are a little cozy with neighbors but okay for the most part. Lots of dining and the ride up the mountain is majestic.

I still love going to this place. It has all the amenities you need and not overly crowded. Boating or paddling on the lake, go-carts, horse back riding, fishing and most of all the house on river or the lake. I have had both and it is fantastic! Oh, the miniature golf.....that is fun too!

Large sandy/rocky beach at the north (town end) of lake and big park and beach at south (resort) end. Lake level changes with the seasons and was getting low in August.

We enjoyed a day at Wallowa Lake. We took the tram up to the top (a little pricey $26 per person); ate ice cream. There was a cute mini golf course that we played. took paddle boats on the lake. You can ride horses and go-carts. Lots of hiking areas.

A real ear popper, fast descent. Fantastic views and some great hiking trails up top. Still lots of snow up top in June!!

Wallowa Lake is a stunningly beautiful jewel of a lake, and should not be missed when visiting north east Oregon. It's located in the Wallowa Mountains, known as the Little Alps Of America, about two miles from the picturesque town of Joseph. The lake is approximately 5 miles long, and 3 miles wide. An access highway runs along one side of the lake, and ends at a beautiful park with camping available, rental cabins, and a restaurant, and the venerable Wallowa Lake Lodge. You may even choose to climb aboard the tram which transports visitors to the top of the mountain by the lake. You will be glad you didn't miss this remarkable Oregon landmark!!It's very much like Switzerland!

Water and surroundings a great family adventure. Clear blue water. Awesome place for picnics or fishing.

Known as the "little Alps" of America, the area around Wallowa Lake is breathtaking and awe inspiring. The 2-hour drive from LaGrande to Wallowa Lake is a beautiful scenic drive with mountains, rivers, and the occasional Bald Eagle to see. Once at Wallowa Lake you will never want to leave!

There is a spiritual beauty about Wallowa lake area. Ride the sky tram to the top of the mountain. Unbelievable! Deer are friendly and it seems it is one of the last few unspoiled and under commercialized places left. Take a deep breath and see the hand of God

Wallowa Lake is one of the most beautiful places to go to at any time of the year. The drive up there (from La Grande) in the Fall rivals anything in New England as far as Fall colour is concerned! As I love the history of Eastern Oregon this wonderful place supplied lots. The gravesite of Chief Joseph (Nez Perce tribe) is both sad when you think of his life and how he died, yet very touching to know you're standing right alongside deep history and admiration for Chief Joseph. The surrounding areas cater to almost every taste, from horseback riders and wonderful horse trails, the watersport enthusiasts, hiking enthusiasts, OktoberFest enthusiasts and lay back and enjoy enthusiasts! Can't be missed. Truly.

Lots to do, very commercialized, but quaint and relaxing at the same time! We took the Tram up the Mountain, doesn't get any batter than that!!

I hesitated to write this. It is so beautiful I am not sure I want any more people to discover it. The drive to the lake is heavenly and the gondola ride is worth the money.
