We just had the best day rafting the Dechutes with Sage Canyon Rafting. Abe was our guide and he was so much fun and made the day so enjoyable. From a personal greeting at check-in (we went to school together) to encouraging us to "ride the bull". We stopped for lunch at the park and had our choice of steak or chicken hot off the grill with assorted cold salads, tortilla chips and Mexican dip, cold beverages and cookies. This trip was the perfect way to end my summer and I am already looking forward to going several times next year.

I guess the best thing to say would be, Can't Wait until next summer for another trip! We thoroughly enjoyed our two-day rafting trip with guide Evan. Not only was Evan filled with information to share throughout the two-day trip, his demeanor and humor added to every splash and float along the way. I did a lot of research prior to choosing the company for our 2-day trip and we have no regrets with the chose. To take it to any extra level, after pulling out and claiming our "stuff" we inadvertently left an air mattress in on of the companies vehicles. Without hesitation the owner Bob and our guide assured us the raft would be mailed to us post-haste.

A gal friend, Barb, mentioned she had never been rafting before n I happened to have Groupon coupons left over from last year. Having rafted a few times "many" years ago, I said "Let's Go"!!!The "big day" came n we were raring to go. We get put into a raft with two much younger couples n a guide named Zach who pumped us up on the fun day we were going to have!! He had the affliction to making sure we all got VERY WET at every opportunity!! Zach had excellent boat steering skills which kept us afloat when we should have been otherwise. We had "the kids" sitting on the bow of the raft going thru rapids n filled the raft with water while "surfing"!! I was really leary about going thru Oak Springs n Zach made sure it was memorable to the extent he almost "left the raft"!!! The raft was full of water n everyone was "arms n legs flying" but we were still upright n in the raft. It really was a totally memorable day thanks to Zach. I guess we were lucky that we had no probs with smokers or drinkers. I saw no problems on other Sage rafts with smokers or drinkers this particular day. Our raft was full of excitement n fun without. All folks we came in contact with at Sage were friendly and helpful. The gal in the office with the long hair (sorry, I can't remember her name - Casey??) was especially friendly, knowledgeable n helpful. I would recommend Sage n even return myself for knowledgeable, experienced, fun n friendly guides for half day or longer rafting trips. Be sure u ask for Zach!!!

Took a run down the river with a Groupon. We were treated well and had a great time on the river. Our guide kept us busy and entertained.

Highly recommend this group to use for your next adventure. We went on a Monday, so didn't have an experience like others with drinking and smoking. Met on time, left on time and adequate equipment. Never felt rushed when we jumped out to swim or float. Michael was a great guide! Good luck on the new restaurant, Michael!

My fiance, three girls, dog and I all went rafting this weekend. My fiance has his own boat and equipment, but this was the first time we camped and rafted the whole weekend. I had such a great time I suggested to my fiance that instead of a bachelorette and a bachelor party (this is our second marriages each) that we do a rafting weekend. Our boat is too small for the whole wedding party so we thought we'd do a guided tour with one of the local companies.Well when we got to the take out point at Sandy Beach we made sure there was no one there. We're pulling out our boat and as we're doing so a Sage Canyon truck backs their trailer right up to us. Just inches away from our boat. They boxed us in. We had no way of getting our rig in to load our boat. They forced us to have to literally pick up our boat and all our gear and move it over to a grassy patch, which we had to wait for a Boy Scout Troop to finish loading their stuff so we could load ours. The driver and his partner just sat on the end of the truck having a drink and completely ignoring the fact that they had boxed in a family. I had heard back in camp that the outfitters are not nice or even courteous to private boaters, but I thought that was just talk. Apparently more true than not. To add insult to injury, they later moved the rig about 4 spots over because that's where their boats landed. I'm reconsidering my idea, I'm going to have to really research these companies. I was so very disappointed. Mostly for my fiance because he really loves rafting.

We went as a family of 4 for the half day trip and it was a blast. The people at Sage were very nice. But our guide made our day. Zach M. was an awesome guide! I would totally recommend him as THE guide to go to. Who wants to jump off a rock when you can surf the river?!! He knew the all about the river, some info on local history, animal life, plant life and most importantly he knew how to steer. Looking back at our photos, we noticed that throughout the trip, his hair stayed perfectly in place. Only a true master could plow through that river without getting his hair wet.

This was our first rafting trip down the Deschutes. The guide was absolutely wonderful, a 10 on a 10 scale. The river was beautiful and the rapids exciting, again a 10 on a 10 scale. We had a sunny 88 degree day. The downside to this company was their attraction for drunken rafters. Apparently Sage Canyon is the outfitter that allows heavy drinking so you run the risk of everything that comes with that if you go with this company. Fortunately we were pair with six other rafters that didn't smoke or drink. Unfortunately, on the bus ride back to town, our boat group was combined with two other boat groups from Sage Canyon and what a mess. Beer sprayed on the ceiling, foul mouthed yelling, us having water thrown on us (I hope it was water), etc. It was unbelievable. I feel sorry for the poor bus driver to have to deal with this day in and day out.Don't get me wrong, my wife and I love to enjoy our beer and wine. However, this was something right out of the movie Deliverance and absolutely avoidable with a different company philosophy. It is a shame that such a nice experience was overshadowed by a nasty buch of drunks.I would absolutely go back and pay full price for a rafting trip down the Deschutes. I would just go with a different outfitter who does not allow / encourage excessive alcohol (and smoking) on their boats.I do not enjoy writing a negative review, especially since our guide was so great (good water skills, good natural history knowledge, and a good personality), but I think other potential rafters should know the situation and make an informed choice. I rely on the Tripadvisor comments a lot when planning trips, so thought I would take the time to provide feedback. If your thing is to enjoy a drunken rafting trip, and you smoke, then Sage Canyon is a perfect choice. If that is not your thing, then you might be better off with a different company. If you want to make it an overnight rafting/camping trip, and you have enough rafters to fill a boat, I highly recommend Sage Canyon as long as you can get Luke as your guide. I hope Sage Canyon takes a lesson from Maui’s highly ranked Trilogy Excursions and they change their policies to keep their customer’s drinking controlled for the enjoyment of all.

Jared was a Superb Guide for our 3 hour Whitewater Rafting Trip down the Deschutes River. Knowledgeable, Courteous, Safety Conscious, Professional and Interesting. Our Sold out raft included a family of five, two adult ladies and my wife and I, with Jared and another Future Guide in Training. Despite having both young kids and older adults Jared made this group of strangers a Rafting Team for 3 hours. He Respectfully answered All questions. His leadership qualities were on display as he skillfully coached us energetically thru both the easy and more challenging rapids. Jared gave us a great plan for an exciting and safe rafting trips that would be fun for our very diverse customer group. Everything from clothing, safety, storage of belongings and padeling strategies were discussed. Cassie was our first contact with the SRC group. She was encouraging and very helpful and our whole group anticipated a great experience was about to happen. Obviously, I Wholeheartedly Recommend the Sage River Canyon Group ! !

I haven't even gone rafting with this company yet, but from the interaction I had with them booking, I am already extremely impressed. I have rafted with a number of companies (and many more similar activities), and rarely do I find such excellent customer service from the first phone call. Can't wait for my trip! I'll make sure to update this after I go, but I can only imagine it would get better.

Bought the 6 hour trip as a birthday gift for my mother. A chance to get out with her grandsons and enjoy the outdoors. From the time we arrived the staff was friendly and accomodating. They were well trained and we felt safe the entire trip. Our group ranged in age from 13 to 72 and everyone had a blast. The equipment was clean and they gave great advice on staying warm (it was a mild day). Taylor, our guide, was a ton of fun. He made us all laugh and did a good job making sure we all got wet. The lunch stop was wonderful, we were eatting steak and chicken while the other tours ate burgers. I would recommend they add some veggies to the menu. Like most of these trips, I wish they would just increase the price and throw the pictures in for free. Always feels like a bit of a ripoff to be charged $60 for the cd of the trip.
