Did the all day trip on the Deschutes 09/21/14. Fantastic weather and Russell and Joey were excellent guides. Safety is a top priority with a whole lot of fun mixed in. If you think the day trip costs too much definitely do a half day wtih these guys. I can't wait to go back next year. Definitely worth the money- the fun and the amazing views.

Not your lazy river at the water park, this is the real deal! Not only was the river exciting but our guides were as well. Our guide Josh, practiced his stand up act on our group and kept us laughing and entertained throughout the whole trip. He was also very informative about the geological make up of the area as well as the rivers rich history. Our excursion included a BBQ picnic lunch at a nice little park on the river and when we were all through, they rewarded us with cold sodas in the shuttle ride back to the outfitter. Bottom line, this experience was authentic, exciting, adventurous and not for the faint of heart.

I had my east coast family visiting with ages 10 to 68..... not exactly outdoors types, but we had a great half-day float on the Deschutes. It was without a doubt the highlight of their active visit. Our guide (Byron) related to each of us, was appropriately safety conscious, was very informative and was totally upbeat - especially after an exciting run through a rapid. The guide on the other raft (Will) was good with our 10-year old, staying close, but not too close, going though Swimmer's Rapid. It was just the 3.5-hour trip, but it was perfect for us and went absolutely without a hitch. I'm not a frequent rafter but used to do some independent group rafting. This is my third float with All Star and I'm 3 for 3 for a great experience..... including a float on the While Salmon. Highly recommended for a wide range of ages and abilities - but be safe!

So I'm thinking, what sounds like a fun day with a little terror thrown in? White Water Rafting!!!!!....and because I'm a wimp- not too much terror. All Star Rafting in Maupin, OR provided the perfect mix. The Deschutes has enough rapids to get soaked, swim with (and I mean "with" not "in") and jump into to provide a day long excursion that allows you to eat a guilt free humongous supper and then flop into bed from all of the "fun". While maybe not exuberant enough for a level 5-6er crowd- the class 3-4 rapids made me feel pretty proud of myself. Finally, the guides- get them!! Unless you are well experienced with this type of water rafting, the guide provides a sense of where to go with the team in the boat and the best way to have it be fun. They know their stuff and they also know what you are capable of! Have fun!

We were on the river July 11 and 12.This was our third overnight trip (self-guided) in the area. Though there are several raft rental companies in Maupin, I recommend All Star without reservation. Over the years, we have found All Star flexible when our plans change (dates, number of people, equipment requested), able to provide reliable equipment, reasonably priced, and willing to do a little extra to meet their customers' needs beyond what is advertised I have not used the guides but other reviewers seem pleased. Our family of 15, including 2 +70 year-olds, 6 other adults and 7 children ranging from 5-13 years of age, took All-Star's 12 mile rafting trip today. We have taken other rafting excursions on several rivers, and this was definitely the best ever. The company is very safety conscious and our guide, Brian, was first rate. The Deschutes is an incredibly beautiful river, and the 12 mile trip offered challenging whitewater up through class 4 rapids. The exhilarating runs through these were interspersed with long stretches of quiet water, when everyone could jump in for a few minutes in the icy water and a lot of fun games were offered by Brian. This was one of the most fun days our family has experienced, definitely one for the memory book!

We went w/ a large church group to raft the Deschutes River in Maupin. I don't have anything to compare the experience to, however, we enjoyed ourselves so much we're planning to make rafting a yearly summer event. Our group consisted of over 56 people and All Star was professional, organized and definitely concerned w/ river safety. Our guide was a 19 year old named Brian. He was great! He knew exactly where to steer our raft to limit the paddeling and where to get the best rapid ride. Each time we pulled up to the river bank he perched himself on the shore w/ roped sandbag ready to toss to anyone who needed help. This came in handy when a womans blood pressure dipped too low and she fell out of her raft. I've never seen someone run so quickly! We will definitely choose All Star and hopefully Brian next Summer.

We specifically picked All-Star Rafting because they offered half-day trips and were willing to take kids our kids ages 11 and 9. From the moment we stepped in the door, the entire team was extremely professional, but more importantly FUN! It was only my second white water raft, and our kids were on their first trip. Our guide Maddie, was OUTSTANDING, as she explained all the safety rules as well as commands we'd be using. We made our way through Class 2, 3 and one Class 4 rapid without any problems. The kids learned how to paddle and be part of a team. Maddie also taught the kids how to "bullride" at the front of the boot and taught us a bit of the river's history and lore along the way. We absolutely recommend the company, and if you get a chance, be on Maddie's boat!

We have enjoyed family rafting trips on the Colorado River from Radium, Colorado and the Yellowstone River from Gardiner, Montana. However the trip down the Deschutes from Maupin, Oregon was the best so far! Great guides! Great value!

Well, it was a lot of fun. Our guide was Olivia, our driver was her brother. She made sure that we hit dead center at all of the rapids to increase our thrills. In addition, we all took turns riding the bull by sitiing in the very front of the boat with our legs dangling in front of the raft during some of the better rapids. When I took my turn riding the bull, she had people sit further back to increase the height of my ride. Wow! Our guide also made sure that we all had surprise splashes. She aimed at one swell so accurately that the guy in front of me got a nice solid wave of water all over him. Which was fine, since it was a sunny 86 or so, with the water temp that day being 64. Our half day ride is perfect for any beginners, any experienced rafters who just want to have fun, actually anybody--the age range of rafters in our group was 11-74.

We did the all day rafting trip with Jordan. We all throughly enjoyed it. Went as a family (2 adults, two 14 year olds, and a 12 year old). It's sometimes difficult to find activities the whole family enjoys. This definitely hit the mark! We will be back.

Wonderful family trip with our teenage girls. All Star's guides (Josh and Garrett) took such good care of us. The food (surf and turf, stuffed french toast) was awesome. We hit all the fun rapids and some jumping rocks and had a blast! The only cautionary note: my contact-lens wearing daughter got a corneal ulcer, likely from river water. Be very careful!

When my husband surprised me with this trip I was scared and a bit hesitant....especially when you see pictures in the lobby of boats tipping. We never even had a close call and felt very safe the entire time. This was a lot more than rafting. We got to jump off the raft and swim as much as we wanted. We went off into little coves where we could jump off a huge rock.... Body surfed for the first time down a rapid. Kids took turns riding the very front of boat on certain rapids like they were riding a bull and it was a fight for who went next...they loved it. There is also a lot of history along this river that is very fun to hear about. When we stopped for lunch I just looked up the river and tried to take everything in....it is so beautiful. One of the best trips ever for our family and we will never forget it.

We had 4 first time rafters with us. Three of them were feeling very uneasy about the adventure. Thanks to Courtney, it didn't take long before they not only felt comfortable, but were also having a ton of fun. All 6 of us did the "riding of the bull" on the front of the raft. We were able to "surf" 3x on the trip, compared with other rafts that had tried to surf and were unsuccessful. That was all due to our guide's experience. Thanks again, Courtney. You kept us safe and laughing. The trip went way to fast. Definitely an excellent end to our summer! We are planning on tackling the White Salmon next time and will definitely use All Star and be requesting Courtney again. We appreciated him so much, we all wanted to tip him. Thanks All Star... for a TON of FUN!!! Absolutely LOVED IT!!! =)

First-rate rafting company! Our guide, Derek, was accommodating, thorough, and patient while providing us with a memorable half-day experience on the Deschutes. My husband and I were joined by a family of three from New Jersey, including Kevin, an adventurous 11-year-old. Derek ensured that Kevin was able to experience the requested thrills (and spills), while keeping all of us engaged and active. Beautiful high desert scenery!
