What can I say any day at the beach is a great Day and this was no exception, very enjoyable. Easy access, great parking , and not crowded.

We were driving north along the Oregon Coast on a spectacularly sunny and warm day over Labor Day weekend 2014. We enjoyed seeing Ophir Beach, which is north of Gold Beach.

On our way out of Gold Beach we spotted a nice viewpoint just off the highway and had to stop. The walk down to the beach from the parking area is quick and the biggest waves we've seen along the Oregon Coast were at Ophir Beach. We saw sea lions too. This should be a more popular destination but because it isn't we loved it that much more.

About 11 miles north of Gold Beach and just south of Sisters Rock lies a little Ophir Beach. No write-ups in Trip Advisor to speak of, nor a mention at the Information Bureau, So off we go to give this forgotten beach a look-see. It is quiet (we were the only people there of a sunny day), doesn't seem to mind being the forgotten second cousin to the bigger named beaches. It just rests there with rolling waves, a picnic table, small parking area and beautiful. Sometimes the road less traveled makes all the difference.

Great beach located within walking distance of Honeybear Campground. We saw sea lions, and whales during our stay in Ophir. There is a great golf course a few miles inland.
