My favorite mountain lake around here. We rent a patio boat for the family and a couple of the kids' friends, stay out for 4-6 hours fishing and swimming. Got some big bass and trout last few years.

This is a beautiful lake when full, but recent droughts have left it a little low. There's a lovely campground, a cafe, boat docks, boat rentals. It's a fun place. Drive up the mountains to get there is half of the fun because of beautiful sceneryJane L.

A local sailing club (Rogue Yacht Club) hosts regattas on this lake, and they are excellent. These are not really large yachts, but smaller rigs. Sail on!

We camp or boat at Howard Prairie several times durng the summer. The campling experience is alwasy enjoyable, especially if you get a lakeside camp spot. Watching the Canadian Geese and the American Whte Pelicans that frequent the lake, is an experience not to miss. You will also see lots of Osprey and even Bald Eagles. My husband was amazed on one visit, during the opening of fishing season, to see a Bald Eagle steal an egg out of a Canadian Goose nest! Unbelievably beautiful here! We have slept in our boat on the lake and woke to the jumping of trout early in the morning, along with a breathtaking view of the rising sun, reflecting across the water. The great thing about this lake, is that there are 3 other lakes nearby . . .Hyatt, Fish Lake and Lake of the Woods. Don't miss visiting these lakes!

We live in So. Or. but never camped on the south end of the Valley. Heard great reviews of Howard Prairie Lake Campground so decided to give it a go. Reserved a site online which was easy and nice but that was about the only thing I liked. The sites are either on a hillside with your neighbors right on top of you or in open areas and again with your neighbors in your site, There is no privacy and relaxation. The water and Elec. hookups are at the front of the sites while with a trailer hookups are near the back. Bring extra hoses and extension cords. They do sell them at the store for a hefty price! Our camp neighbor wondered the same as us why they don't tell you that? Will never return.

Nice Jackson county campground about 4500ft in elevation. Large sites with lots of trees, but not very level for large rvs. There were deer, ducks, geese and two bald eagles fishing across the lake. Sail boats, ski boats paddle boats and of course fishing boats. They have Friendly staff and host. Little store with mostly fishing tackle, cafe, soft serve ice cream and Marina. Clean restroom and 25 cent showers. We had no internet or satellite. Others had satellite dishes on a 100ft cable out in a clearing. We did have cell service. Very peaceful, even with it being a busy weekend. We will return.

My wife and I have come here quit often over the years for lunch, takes us about an hour to get here from home. Yesterday we came, parked and took the dog to the boat ramp to get him wet before we went in to eat. Walked the dog around the parking lot for a quick drip dry, gone about 6 minutes come back to lady writing us a parking ticket. Tried to tell her were just here to eat, she has quit an attitude. End up having to go over her head to get it fixed. Had a good lunch anyway the food and waitress were great. Whole thing kinda reuined the day.

In the Cascade Mountains about 30 minutes from Ashland, it's at the base of at Mt. McLaughlin shown in the picture. A "must see" spot if you're visiting Southern Oregon

Great place to get away from the hectic! A great place to fish, relax by the lake, camp in the many campgrounds around the lake or at the resort that has full hook-up. The store and restaurant at the resort have the basics for supplies.

Lake, trails, bike paths, views, animals... all within 45 minutes of most of the Rogue Valley. 4 great camping areas, some with power. And the food at the lodge is darn good. What a great place for a day trip!

It's close to Medford and pleasant. The nearby scenery is gorgeous. The lake is, well, it's a lake. Since I'm not a "water-baby" or a fisherman, it doesn't do much for me except be a pretty view.

Howard Praire Lake is not so far from the city. It is peaceful and enjoyable. It offers a place for any kind of camper.

The folks at the check in station were very nice and helpful. Unfortunately, our trip turned negative after that. "Security" forces descended on our camp shortly after dinner. First, he didn't approve of our fire. Then he tried to get us to complain about surrounding campers for uttering the slightest peep that may be heard from other campsites. I've been camping for many, many years. When in a campsite as crowded and congested Howard Prairie Resort's, you expect to hear noise from other sites. They seemed to want everybody in bed by dark and not a sound out of your camp thereafter. It was impossible to sit around the fire in the evenings sharing stories without repeated visits from the very rude and aggressive camp "host". We will not be returning. For the price they get for a very small spot ($30), you expect to be treated better.
