Much fun plus other activities. Yes they have a WWII submarine. Also great airboat trips leave from there. Huge screen for movies. Planetarium. Good exhibits. Fun for kids of all ages. Five minutes from downtown. Lots of special children's programs throughout the year. Spending a few days in Portland and have children from 4 to 14 it is certainly worth a visit. On July 4th can watch fireworks from their parking lot.

There were a lot of puzzles and games and they were all relatively the same. Didn't find it very interesting. We also saw movie in planetarium about the black hole. Again, it was ok. I think this is better for kids 10 and under as my teens was bore pretty quickly. I'm from BC and I feel the Science World here is more educational even though it is a little smaller.

This is clearly oriented towards the little ones, but we had a great time too. The planetarium was the highlight. There are special programs on Tuesday evenings.

We only had time for the submarine tour. I was expecting to have to pay for entrance to the museum as well, but we were only charged the $6.75 each. They even waived the parking fee as we wouldn't be long! Great value! The sub tour was informative and interesting, however our tour guide seemed a bit like he had lost his passion for it. It was only a fairly small group and there were a few good photographic opportunities.

Kids love this and parents to do. The cost is expense and it is busy most of the time. Come early to help beat the crowds.

We are a family with two older teens. We all had a great time at OMSI. They have great hands-on science exhibits catering to a wide range of ages and interests. The submarine tour needs to be booked in advance and isn't for young kids. Only the 45 minute tour was offered the day were were there. It was very interesting. We hope to come back some time for the 3 hour tour.

We loved this place! So many great exhibits. They had really fun puzzles, maze rooms, brainteasers, and lots and lots of hands on fun. And bonus, our local museum membership transferred and we got in for free!

We spent 5 hours on a Saturday; we could have easily spent 5 more. Every exhibit had an interactive component - so much better than just looking and reading. There is a section for young kids to be hands-on, sand box, water pools, chipmunk tree, play dough, grocery store, blocks, etc...Special exhibit about mazes had lots to do for both children and adults.Great selection of food is available, but there is also a small section where you can eat what you've brought with you.Highly recommend this museum ( and the Lemon Cookie with Honey Lavender ice cream by RubyJewel treats!)

The exhibits here are well organized and very informative. There are also films that are shown regularly.Worth a visit while you are in Portland.

Great hands on learning and interactive for kids. The laser show as always is good fun and the theater is awesome. If you plan on doing the submarine tour make sure before you buy tickets to try going thru the "door" placed near the tour start area. ..the opening is narrow and short to enter the submarine.Oh also if you go on first sat of the month entrance tie $2 plus your additional activities are each $5And $5 parking feeThis place is also just down. The street from the Oregon rail museum. Awesome place to visit as well

We love the OMSI. We renew our membership ever time. There is so much to do but each section of the museum is a separate fee and any of the attraction there, which there are many so a membership pass is so much more worth it especially for families. It has an imax, virtual roll coaster, plantereum, science labs open to kids, robots, submarine tours, life exhibit, and two cafes, and so much more. But make sure you check ahead to see if any school groups will be there that day and what time because there was mass amount of school kids there and it sounded like a playground not a museum. Oh an check what kind exhibit is on display some are worth it some are not. But they do open the museum up at night just for adults and they do some amazing things with science for adults too from food to live bands. The OMSI rocks!

I went to OMSI with my son's family and we had a great time. There are so many fascinating things to try. It is big enough so that even on a weekend there is plenty of room for everyone. One of my favorites was making a LEGO structure and seeing how it lasted if there was an earthquake.

The displays do change, so get on line and see what is current. Don't miss one of the OMSI wrap around movies.

Fantastic museum with an area just for the kids....or the kid in the adults. Wonderful view of the Willamette River and the city of Portland. Also for an additional fee are the tour of a submarine, IMAX theater and planetarium. Make sure to drop by the Theory restaurant for a not fast food experience, can't go wrong with any of the menu items.
