Some of the most amazing, fresh produce I have seen in my life. Samples and tastings galore! Go here around lunch time and graze all the while listening to some local music. Loved this place!

I visited Portland in the month of January; not the most not obvious time for a farmer's market. But, the market exceeded any possible expectations. There were about 50 stalls open exhibiting a variety of freshly made sausages, sheep and goat cheeses, six different patés ranging from duck to pheasant, breads, empanadas, many root vegetables including beetroot, kale hakurei turnips, carrots, new potatoes and more, and a lone chellist busker who could easily be found in a concert hall. The market has a super location on the wide promenade of Portland State University which can permit another 200 stalls in the prime season. Like farmer´s markets nationwide and worldwide it is a place to interact with local farmers proud of their produce and learn about the state and local community. Many of them are eager to share how they prepare their cheeses or baked goods. For fun, conversation and visual delights I recommend a visit on a Saturday any time of year. This my number one attraction in town.

Loved this market at Portland State University. A potpourri of fresh and prepared food in a wonderful park like setting. We rode our bikes there which made it easy to get around as it is busy (bring your locks as you are in the city). Six + types of tomatoes, carrots, beets, kale, mushrooms, etc. all looking absolutely gorgeous. I was so disappointed that I could not take home and cook (we were in a hotel ). Fruit was fresh and tasty. Prepared foods from fresh cheese, sausages, baked goods and lunch delights were in abundance. While not a quaint French market, the variety and quality were first rate. Go! Enjoy!

Biked over to PSU Park Blocks from Riverplace to stock up on fresh greens for the week. To our delight, what was expected to be a quick jaunt became a full morning of entertainment by acapella masters "The Portland Timbres" (Clever name). We pleasured our palates with fresh brick oven baked pizza, a gooey blueberry pastry and a nice spot of espresso. Biked back with baskets full of not only eye-popping veggies but home made soups, jams, sweet/zesty dills and herb infused mustard. No bargains here necessarily but trust me, you will be entertained by the best fringe Portland has to offer and enjoy products by innovative entrepreneurs. Young OR seasoned … Something here for everyone!

I love visiting farmers markets whenever we travel to another state, being in the agricultural field and also a fan of local produce. I was anxious about the parking situation, since PSU is situated right in Portland, and did some research beforehand on maybe parking in a SmartPark location and taking TriMet to the market. But it was unusually cold and windy during our November visit, so we opted to take our chances and find nearby parking. I'm glad we did - on-street parking on campus was ample and there are lots of signs on how to pay and how to display the ticket (inside of the window closest to the curb). A bell sounds at exactly 9 am so no purchases can be made until then. There were lots of variety - from meats and eggs to brussel sprouts and decorative wreaths. We bought a couple of pears from the dozens of varieties - we should have looked at all the pear vendors because the one we chose was manned by a high school aged girl who was texting while we waited to put our fruit on the digital scale in front of her - she did not smile once. It was really cold and windy but not rainy and she had a portable heater right at her feet. We also bought dried cherries, some fancy cookies that cost 99 cents each, and a great crumbly pumpkin scone. Since we weren't going to be cooking during our visit, I didn't buy any produce but it was so interesting to see the variety of mushrooms and fall vegetables and fruits that don't grow in the state we're from. The autumn colors in the persimmons, pumpkins, beets, chestnuts, apples and pears were worth the trip for us with our limited access to farmers markets and may not be impressive if you're from an area with bigger farmers markets. It is frequented by locals and tourists and has a large number of vendors that made it well worth the visit. PSU buildings were open for restroom access but no signs indicated that specifically.

We had heard about the Farmers Market at PSU and walked from our hotel. The exercise was good and the variety of meat, fruit, produce, eggs, cheese, baked goods, honey, nuts and other items was excellent. We have to fly home so all the perishable items were off limits for us but had we been staying with access to a kitchen we would have been buying all types of items. The variety of items and the enthusiasm of the merchants was excellent. This was a fun stop.

This market is located on the PSU campus and parking can be a challenge in the area. While cash is king it is not mandatory as many booths use Square to take payments. Fresh produce, baked goods, food and music are in abundance and the scenery of the PSU green spaces are very pretty. While it is not the best farmers market I have every been to, San Franscico holds that title, this market is very in tune with their customer base and local growers.

The food was great and many different produce items. It is more fun though if you have about 20 dollars in spending money or so.

I really enjoyed seeing this market. WOW what a selection of incredible produce, baked goods, food for purchase, amazing flowers, you name it. We need gluten-free food in our house and were amazed at how much GF fresh food there was at this market. There is no doubt you could eat your way from one end to the other, and have some great stuff. Wine, cheese, fresh KimChi, jams, jellies, nuts -- it is all here. The star of the show is the amazing produce. This would be a regular stop if I lived here!

I cannot stress enough how amazing this farmers market is. I was blown away by such choice and appeal. It's a day affair so come prepared to for the experience of a lifetime as far as farmers markets go.

Whenever the opportunity arises, I look forward to a Friday night stay in PDX so I can experience the Portland State Saturday morning Farmers Market. In late August my Friday night flight back to the bay area was cancelled. I was so excited that I had a reason to visit the Saturday morning Farmers Market. Although I can't bring fresh produce home to CA, I loved the eye candy of the amazingly fresh veggies and fruit. One of my favorite vendors is Freddy's Guys. I stocked up on some hazelnuts for the pantry.

We stopped here on a food tour and ended up buying a nice selection of food to snack on in our hotel room (which fortunately had a refrigerator). My favorites were the Gouda from Jacob's Cremery, the salt bagels (unfortunately can't remember the vendor's name), and the heirloom apples (which came from several vendors). Probably the best food we had in Portland!

Come prepared to shop. I can't comment on parking, as I arrived at the market via the Max, but it is so easy to access via several lines that put you in the heart of the market. There lots of vendors selling a variety of products -fresh fruits & vegetables, cheese, meats, beverages and lots of samples. There are options for prepared foods and, judging by the lines, people plan for certain vendors. You can spend a whole day here with delicious food and street performers. Vendors seem ready to chat and share info.on their products.

The fresh produce was truely inspirational, at this time of year the fresh strawberries and cherries were selling fast. The range of fresh herbs and plants including tomatoes for sale was excellent. Artisan products were also of top quality, cured pork and lavender sausage stood out as an unexpected taste sensation. A must visit.
