Our group enjoyed the wine and the the host was quite knowledgeable, but we thought the room lacked charm. We purchased several bottles, and the fee was waived. If we ever returned, would probably check out some of the other rooms instead.

I enjoyed my visit and tasting too. Nice selection of wines and the setting is great too. I loved the reserve Pinot Gris the best but also bought an older vintage Pinot Noir. Tasting room manager was great and offered suggestions for lunch. All the staff were great ambassadors for the Oregon Wine Country. The room is right in Newburg on 99 and it was easy to find. No getting lost on the back roads.

While we enjoyed the wine and the woman pouring was friendly and knowledgeable, the tasting room seemed to be lacking. We specifically went to Chehalem because we can get their wines in our area. They did try, with soil samples and other displays, to help visitors understand the differences between their vineyards. However, I would have preferred to have spent the time at one of the other wineries we visited.

Although not part of our original plan as my husband and I drove through the area, we kept seeing sign after sign for various wineries and tasting rooms. So, we decided to stop by and see what Oregon Pinot was all about. The two of us split a flight ($15/flight of 7 tastes), and that was plenty enough as the pours were pretty generous. The wines were very good and the experience very informative about the Oregon wines. And with a $50 purchase (~2 bottles of wine) the tasting fee was waived for the flight. The tasting room is very well finished, with exposed wooden beams and interesting light fixtures. Overall it was a nice afternoon adventure.

This was a great start to a wine tasting day, and I would highly recommend Chehalem. The wines were quite good and a couple of wines not on the flight list were opened 2007 and 2009. Easily some of the best wines we tasted and very reasonably priced unlike others from the area. It was not only fun, but informative, and it will be a first stop on the next trip to Oregon.

We were in the area with our 1 1/2 year old grandson and stopped by to buy wine for a gathering we were going to and we decided to purchase a tasting. While I understand that, generally speaking, kids and wine tasting rooms aren't always a great mix, there will be occasions when people stop by with a child or children. Last summer, we took our grandson to wineries to picnic on a couple of occasions and we were quite welcomed. Our grandson was not loud, not crying, and not disturbing anyone or anything in the room, if he had been, we would have left. But we definitely got the impression they were in a hurry for us to leave. I bought three bottles of wine (which was very good, by the way), but as soon as I purchased the wine they took our wine glasses away and didn't finish the selections on the wine tasting we purchased. The wine tasting room was nice, and again, the wine we did taste and purchase was good, but we won’t be going back. There is a much warmer and friendlier atmosphere at other wineries from my experience.

The wines from Chehalem are good, but the best thing is the tasting room. It is quite lovely !! The room is an old auto shop with great wood beams in the ceiling. Stop in the wine is good the wood better
