Certainly the best meal in Ely. Had the filet and it was excellent. The jail cells you sit in make it fun. The casino itself is small.

If you are expecting a Las Vegas casino you will be disappointed. Jailhouse is a small casino with far fewer machines. However the laid back atmosphere fits perfectly with the town of Ely. The jail motif continues to the restaurant where your table is placed inside a jail cell.

When we checked in we asked for the best restaurant in Ely. This is where we were sent. The food is good and you sit inside jail cells.

Our food was just ok - warm rather than hot and not the very best quality. I had a baked potato that had obviously been prepared earlier and not reheated properly. It was 85 per cent cooked and just warm. What a shame because it has the potential to be a good restaurant with great service - if only they cared enough. It has a unique selling point ( jail cells) but that doesn't make up for the quality of food.

This place is top notch for steaks and fixings, especially for a small place like Ely. The steak prices were about usual for what you pay elsewhere, but whatever you pay you will enjoy it. Folks come from the Hotel Nevada to eat here. The steakhouse closes somewhat early though so don't wait up to get here. Our only complaint was not about the food or service is but that the steakhouse is of course connected to a casino which gets the usual casino crowd and the restaurant, modeled like an old jail complete with bars and swing open door, is pretty noisy. They put a couple next to us after we started eating that were really wasted from being served in the casino. As such they were very loud and the guy had, shall I say, a colorful vocabulary that was typical of a drunk cowboy. Every other word was "F" this or that and it carried real well and even though there was a wall between us and we could not see each other we could clearly here his entire description of how well he cold perform oral sex on the girl he had picked up in the casino. It would not have been good if we had kids with us. As I expected the waitress said nothing and as we left I got a chance to see him: big cowboy with some ugly road kill that he had picked up and he just glared at me as I shot a glance in his direction. I am guessing a complaint to the waitress would have been followed by a fight. That is the reason they didn't get five stars from me. We did eat in the cafe here the next morning and it was a true cut above the Hotel Nevada restaurant in both food and service.

The hotel/casino had a cute western theme and I would have rated it better if the carpet wasn't dirty and didn't have cigerette burns on the furniture and rug. The bathroom was clean and the beds weren't too bad. We ended up in a smoking room due to the time we arrived, not their fault, customer service was nice. Breakfast in the Cafe was great! Just felt a little creepy because of the dirty carpet.

Atmosphere was great.. the food was a complete shock how good it was..warm bread served..the starch selections are unique. The prime rib was truly the best I have had.

this is a very cool little casino -- we were there too late to eat at the steakhouse, but we heard it was good. You actually eat inside a jail cell.

We were a large family group for a reunion. The check in was slow but fine. Staff excellent and very helpful.,they carried lunch from the restaurant through the lobby to the bar nearest us as we watched soccer. Very attentive. Rooms just fine and clean. Great location, simple slots, for those who wanted to try a full casino the hotel Nevada is just across the street with friendly croupiers. But the jailhouse is the place to stay. At checkout after three days one couple was I'll and they not only helped with a Kate checkout, were helpful with ice and beverages to help them, at no cost. A good stop will go again.

Its a cool theme in a mining town with a real prison. The prime rib was excellent, well priced and the horseradish was spicy. The staff was very friendly and made the visit a pleasure

My wife and I had dinner in the restaurant. We had two different chicken dishes. Both were so huge that we took leftovers back to our hotel for another complete dinner two days later. Oh, and both dinners were good.We especially enjoyed chatting with the waitress (I think it was a slow night). Too bad every place in Nevada seems to be a casino.

I have lived in Ely for 16 years. When we have out of town guests, we always take them to the jailhouse. The food and service is excellent.

It is part of the Jailhouse Casino in Ely Nv. We had our 37th anniversary dinner there June 24th 2014. The prices were reasonable and the meal very good. I do not typically eat steak but ordered one; it was very tender, I like mine cooked well done. All the sides were fresh and good quality. They brought us a complimentary slice of homemade raspberry cheesecake (delicious) with a lit candle to celebrate our anniversary. Our server was very good and engaging. The atmosphere was pleasant and the decor matched the restaurant theme. There were mini jail cells with bench seating or open table seating available.

This casino is very small but we are in a very small town didn't smell like smoke. The steak house though was very neat you actually get to sit in old Jail Cells and eat.

They did not have an available room but they were able to find us a place to stay. Seemed like a fun casino and located down town Ely. Great staff
