hawthorne ordnance museum

We stopped at the Ordnance Museum and found it very interesting. Hawthorne is a big military ordnance depot and we thought this might fill us in on a lot of details which it did. The volunteer there was very knowledgeable and there is lots of ordnance and guns to view. The museum is free but it certainly deserves ones small donation. Great place to stop.

Great family spot to enjoy. Many great displays inside and far larger than it looks! Many displays operate.

Due to the nearby army and navy depots they have been able to collect many rare, historical weapons. Bombs, missles, bullets, guns, torpedos, mines, etc. They not only had two DASH helicopters but also had an original set of the ground electronics for them. A little off the path but well worth the visit to someone interested in US military ordnance.
