Great tour lead by knowledgeable docent. Tons of amazing artifacts. Lots of Nevada History. It's a really picturesque setting. A very nice way to spend an autumn morning.

I arranged on short notice for a group of 6 ladies to take the tour of the Dangberg Home & Ranch. We were warmly greeted by the curator, Mark and his able assistant and then were led through the ground floor of the house.Mark clearly loves his work as he had numerous stories which brought to life the families who lived on the ranch. He was engaging, well informed and able to answer every question we had. After the tour, we were able to view a couple of the out buildings on our own before visiting the small gift shop where I found a cute necklace for only $16.! I highly recommend a visit to see this historic part of Nevada's past, you won't regret it.

I always get a peaceful feeling when visiting the ranch, which is excellently preserved. It is well removed from the most modern aspects of current living.

The drive in through cows is fun and different, gets you in the mood. We go here about six-ten times a year for events, small concerts, and mostly educational talks. Mark is the curator and could not be a better host. His passion is infectious. We hope more people contribute to the cause of keeping this great place restored.

A bit hard to find but worth the effort. The Dangbergs were founders of settlements in the Carson Valley. This Nevada State Park venue takes you back in time with good exhibits and narrative of early life in and around Gardnerville.

If you want to see this attraction, you should schedule a tour; don't just show up and try to locate the ranch. It is not well-marked, and there was no signage that I could see. Google their website and set something up. Otherwise, just enjoy the vast openness of the Carson Valley

Not only have I toured the Home Ranch, I volunteered there for several months. The original owners kept everything, including cards and letters from the late 1800's from family in Germany! There is an extensive collection of clothing and toys as well. Sorry to say that none of the equipment in the home is in working condition. Mark Jensen is a great tour guide and very knowledgeable about the family. At this time only porta-potties are available.

Not bad if you see once as there is not much to it. Have to drive through private property on a dirt road in order to get to it.

First, we went out on a tour with friends and Mark was our guide at Christmas time. He gave us an awesome sense of the history of the ranch. Of course the ranch was also decorated for Christmas and that truly gave us a sense of what it much have been like to live and work there. Then, we've taken visitors and other friends out for concerts and then the melodrama this summer. What a kick! Fun and different, you can't beat taking your own chairs and cooler full of food and drinks out for a couple hours of enjoyment with a group of like-minded folks! We've enjoyed every event we've been out for and we really appreciate that they keep it very affordable!

The amount of history and keepsakes in the tour is amazing! The family did a great job of keeping family artifacts, it is almost like reliving the old days. If you have the time this tour is worth it. We need to keep history alive by saving these kind of historic landmarks.Mark is a wonderful guide and makes the Dangberg family come alive.

The curator, Mark Jensen, does a nice job of adding new and interesting information every time I tour this historic ranch home that belonged to the Dangberg family, pioneers of the Carson Valley. There are many hidden treasures here that you might not suspect as you first drive up to the old ranch, which is now hosting weddings in addition to the other events throughout the year. I have been fortunate enough to visit the toy and clothing exhibits at Christmastime, as well as recently seeing the garden show of irises on my last visit. This is a must stop for history buffs and anyone who likes a leisurely tour in a beautiful setting. Call ahead because you must have a reservation and there is a very short, slightly bumpy ride from the highway to the ranch home.

The Dangberg Home Ranch began as a homestead in 1857. Over the years the cabin became a home and was expanded several times. Five generations of Dangbergs lived there and at one time were among the most influential in beautiful Carson Valley. Visitors see a collection of artifacts that represents growth and progress over 150 years: earliest hand washing materials used by an Indian washer-woman, an original ice box, tools and equipment for ranching, kerosene lamps to modern day electricity, one of the earliest electric Victrolas. The property is surrounded by gorgeous mountain views, ranch land and wildlife. Eagles can sometimes be spotted in the area, which is also home to owls and other species. Access is a private road through cow pastures! Special exhibits held throughout the year emphasize specific collections, such as 150 years of clothing, including what is believed to be the oldest pair of children's Levi's in Nevada, children's toys, fine China, or revealing correspondence that reflects the times of the five generations. Great educational opportunity for children! The holiday exhibit is one of the best! Other special events are now being held on the grounds, such as chautauquas, picnics and an upcoming melodrama. It's a lovely setting for an outdoor wedding. Free parking. Porta-potties. Mostly standing while on the tour, but chairs are available for people who need to sit.
