Staying at the nugget this weekend. With kids it is a good hotel due to the pool. We enjoy the casino. BUT they have lost my trust. I reserved two rooms. They actually allowed someone to check into one of my rooms before I arrived, no identification, no credit card, (they actually allowed him to sign in on my card). Different name, everything! We arrived to find they had been sweet talked by an old man. So, how many bills did he run up on my credit card (room charges) without my permission? They had my cell number, they could have called to verify the story.

Business stay.Very upset about treatment at pool area this evening. As I type I am still holding to speak with hotel management. Myself and approx 15+ people were unceremoniously kicked out of the hot tub and pool prior to 10:00 pm which is the posted closing time. Give minutes may not be a big deal to most, but the overall 30 minutes we were there we were made to feel like a nuisance in the way of someone's closing work shift rather than valued paying guests. 1) You are required to sign in upon entrance. The witch behind the counter was extremely rude to the woman in in front of me trying to sign in her large family-going as far as to nodding at me waiting patiently behind her to say " and is she with you too?" 2) When I signed in I asked if there was a changing area or bathroom nearby. The only woman working behind the counter tonight acted as if I was an idiot because I did not know the location of the restroom facilities.***I've been holding now for over 9 minutes for the manager to address my issue****3) Beginning at 9:45 pm by the clock hanging near the hot tub, a loud but unclear P/A voice notified the many guests enjoying the pool will be closing in 15 minutes. In all my years of resort stays that is the first we have ever encountered a pre-emptive "get out"4) At 9:53 pm by the same clock the only "woman" working by the pool made another announcement the pool will be closing in 5 minutes and to get out.5) 9:54 the same "woman" began yelling at everyone to "get out of the pool and hot tub now the pool is closed"6) In my room at 9:56 pm. 7) Came straight to my 24th floor room to call and complain. The front desk attendant wasn't exactly supportive to my issue and suggested I "fill out the comment card I received at check in(we did not get one) and drop them at the front desk box as they go straight to the CEO". I then asked to speak with a manager.8) 10:14pm. Still on hold.

I was only able to play for about an hour but I could move from machine to machine and get good play time out of my money. I'd love to go again and try longer. Also, I was able to hear a lot of people around me winning so it wasn't just a fluke for me.

I was worried looking at bad reviews after making reservation to stay. We stayed in hotel for one night and had awesome time. We were given very clean room on the corner with windows on two sides which had great view of city. Room was very clean. Enjoyed free drinks at casino. I also won $300 playing slots. I will stay here if I ever come back.

Just returned from a mediocre meal at Gilley's. I specifically asked the server if the beef brisket was dry and she said no. It turned out to be very dry. Added heaps of BBQ sauce to make it palatable. Corn bread was not worth eating. Server said the cole slaw was terrible so I passed on my first choice. BBQ beans were decent. This was on a Friday night at 6, when food should be at its freshest, but my only visit was very disappointing. The Nugget used to pride itself on its food, but I am sad to see things have already slid down that very slippery slope since JA sold it last year. Go to Gilley's for the bar scene and cute servers, but skip the food.

We enjoy the Nugget, we went to see a Buddy Holly Tribute which included dinner, it was a steak done to perfection, the tribute was excellent. the rooms were very nice recently remodeled we had a great view to the southwest the mountains were spectacular at sunrise. Rosie's Café has great food and service.

I stayed 1 night on a great deal. Was satisfied with the hotel as it was really nice. However, a couple problems. The TV was very small and the remote didn't work without you really pushing hard on the buttons. Also there was a gap under the room door of over 1/2 inch. This allowed me to hear the maids all afternoon talking down the hall. Also I heard the drunks coming back to their room at 2 am. And only other problem is that I constantly heard water running while inside the bathroom (which was really nice otherwise). I may have been next to a boiler room? all night long the water was running. I don't think the people in the next room had their shower going the whole night. The room had plenty of electric outlets for all the gadgets, the wi-fi worked fair, and there was plenty of room. It could be rated higher if these small items were fixed.

Just returned to our room from the casino. Playing the slots, a change person actually touched my machine and activated the play max button. Before playing, I noticed this. I stood up and demanded my money back, and could not wait to exit .After a fashion money was kindly returned. Informed a cheaply suited floor walker that I have just returned from Europe, played at Monte Carlo and that there as well as many other countries hired help speak television English, perfect and no accent. Their rude inappropriate employee that tampered with machine could not speak perceptible English. This suited employee remarked that this was racist, Sorry, this employee does not speak English so I must give license for this molestation of my machine. This must be usual and accepted behavior at this casino.Return? No way.Recommend? Get out of this Hotel Sleaze immediately if not sooner.

We really enjoyed our stay this time with the Nugget. It was Hot August Nights and even though the casino and hotel was packed with people, every staff member was really nice and our room was fantastic!

The Nugget is in Sparks, Nevada which is about 10 minutes from Reno. The drive there really isn't worth it because there really is nothing that makes it stand out or separates it from the hotels/casinos in Downtown Reno near the arch. Also, it doesn't have a lot that caters to families. It's an older property in need of renovation.

We went to Hot August Nights (ok - its in July/early August this year), and had a good time at the John Ascuaga's Nugget. They had an ownership change earlier this year and we could tell they are working hard to make major improvements. They recently opened Gilley's. Gilley's, a country western bar complete with a mechanical bull, is a fun place to go. For Hot August Nights, they were showing free movies in their large theater. It was so fun watching Jail House Rock there. They did a great job of bringing in top notch musical entertainment. While the line for the buffet looked like it went on "forever" people were patiently waiting for the buffet. We ate at Gilley's instead-good food and service. The hotel is the "centerpiece" for Sparks. We were in the area a few weeks before and they did an awesome Fourth of July here with shooting off fireworks from on top of the hotel. All in all - good improvements here and hope they continue. So for now 4 out of 5 as there is still room for improvement. But nice changes so far...
