This was a small but nice museum chronicling both the history of the state as well as Reno in particular. Unfortunately, some display cases had been placed in front of wall exhibits so that the information was covered. Additionally, whoever wrote up the exhibit descriptives did not wordsmith them. There were misspellings, poor grammar, incorrect punctuation and capitalization, and hanging participles. This always drives me crazy and badly detracts from the enjoyment of the exhibition. Made more shameful because this is an educational institution.

This is a small museum with good exhibits and photos and, of course, a great gift shop. They host community events, like the Art Show I attended, but good for a tourist visit anytime.

we really enjoyed our trip to the museum. There was a scavenger hunt for the kids to do. We enjoyed the wide variety of exhibits.

Visit the exhibit soon, you will get an appreciation for the Reno, Northern Nevada area and for the contributions of Nevadans to USA. Did you know some 87% of NV land is owned by Federal Govt. & NV is enjoys 150+ years since granted statehood. Why? Visit soon, find out why.

If you are interested in Nevada history, then this is the place for you. Located right by the UNR campus and Fleishmann Planetarium you can make a day of it.

Small but very interesting and filled with history. Lots of artifacts from the 1800's. Photo's of Wakoma, the native american who created the 1st ghost dance which later spread as a movement to the Plains. Nice shop, I found an old goldmining share certificate with my nephew's first name on it, a nice gift. Free parking.

This is a really cool place to spend an afternoon, very informative and the staff is great. The gift shop is worth a stop as well. We love this museum.

Wel,this is not the biggest museum in the neighborhood, but it is worth visiting. They try to cover the whole history of Nevade in an interesting way. Even the kids have things to discover. Our son loved the several hands-on activities like vintage dresses, old toys or digging of artefacts. Good location at the UNR campus and reasonable admission fee.

I specifically went to this museum to see the basket collection. For me the collection was worth the visit by itself because the baskets are esquisite! But there were lots of other interesting things like pictures of Reno through history. Mining tools and minerals and gems. Clothing and items from a general store at the turn of the 20th century. The paintings of historical buildings designed by the State Architect were of particular interest with the plans for the buildings displayed next to the paintings. A great small museum that is good for family visits.

Check out the history of casinos and the old west through creatively presented exhibits. Located next to the Planetarium on the University of Nevada Reno Campus, the museum houses some of the most valuable examples of Dat So La Li Washoe Indian baskets in the world. While you are there, you'll work up an appetite to run across the street to Red's Little Waldorf for one of their amazing burgers, bread pudding and full bar. This is where the UNR Wolfpack hangs out before and after games and every day of the week!

Great exhibits with lots of historical Washoe Indian baskets, historical Reno neon signs, stuff from the cowboy days and much more! Great gift shop. Spend a few very enjoyable of hours with Nevada's past!!!

This is a small museum but well worth the visit if you want to learn about Reno History. It is divided into two rooms. One with the older artifacts and the early mining history; the other with more recent history that developed around the casino industry and the quickie divorce. Very interesting and informative. It is located across from the planetarium on the edge of the university.

I was expecting more history and historical information, pictures and documents. I thought it was put together well, but it is a very small exhibit and won't take much time to go through. It wasn't expensive so that was a plus.
