Very pretty, nice to get outside and see the birds and water....very green. Very nice and warm in Reno. : )

My childhood was spent in Reno, and came back to visit family. We drove downtown to look around. I was very impressed with the way the Truckee has been architecturally improved to be a lovely part of the downtown. There are places to walk along the riverbank. Very nice walkways. Fishermen can enjoy fishing on the banks. There is a restroom there, but it was closed that day. They have taken a beautiful river and made it even more special. Congratulations, Reno! Your downtown is improving with age!

There was no water, bums sleeping under the trees and wind gusts that blew over merchants' racks of street vendors, injuring family members that were shopping nearby.

What can one say? It is a great town with an awesome river going through it. Cafe's and drinking places line the river. Fun

It's paved, relatively flat, with beautiful vistas all seasons of the year. It's not crowded and there is street parking. Bring your kids or leashed dog, even bike ride and swim or flyfish in warmer months. My only criticism of the walkway is the homeless encampments at various places which the city tries to keep in check.

Okay, first of all, if you are from around the Mississippi River, or east of it . . . you will laugh at the fact that we even call the Truckee a river. It will look more like a creek to you. But in the desert, we flock to any water we can get, and here in Reno, we do love our Truckee River! The Truckee River Walk, as it winds through the downtown area, really shows that. I walk along the river a few times a month. Nice trail, perfect for walking, running, people watching. It's fun to dip your toes in the (cold!) water after a few miles. During summer, bring your swimsuit and swim in one of the tide pools while you watch the rafters/kayakers/tubers float on by. Sunset offers gorgeous skies; I've done photo shoots here because there are so many diverse settings, all make great backgrounds for portraits or simple snapshots. If you want food, drinks, and/or restrooms, you are never more than a block away from a casino that will offer all of the above, and more! Beware: different seasons, and different amounts of rainfall from year to year affect the river greatly. After three years of drought, stretches of the river are pretty low and boring. You may not get perfect scenery every time -- but you can listen to the water tumble over the rocks, and see a few ducks (and maybe a beaver), and breathe in a tiny bit of nature in the middle of downtown. Aaahhhhhh . . .

While in Reno, use some free time to walk along the Truckee River to rest from the 'casino scene'. It's good for couples, friends, business travelers, families or just go to explore on your own. Depending on the time of the year, you may be taking part in charity events that fill the river of color, exhibitions, kayak competitions, food festivals, crawls, and much more. Downtown Reno is looking better and offers not only the beauty and peace of nature, but nice restaurants, coffee shops and bars for you to enjoy your' River Walk' more than ever.

Lovely. The Truckee River was really running and we watch kayak practice on the "rapids". Parking is a little dicey so take the first place you find. Walking to the river is an easy stroll.

Unexpected connection with nature at the center of Reno. Many miles of walking trails that follow the Truckee river and nearby lakes.

Beautiful walk, but there are also bums in the downtown Reno area. I enjoy watching the waterfowl sand kayakers and stopping at Java Jungle for coffee.

my husband and I took a nice little stroll along the river this afternoon. Beautiful scenery with places along the path to have coffee or a bite to eat.

Somewhat boring, but it may be more lively in the summer (I went in the winter). The coolest part was being where Marilyn Monroe once stood...I suppose :) Thats about it.

This is a nice walk by the river, just not what we were expecting. The brochures make it seem like it is a shopping and dining area, but we didn't exactly come across much. That said if you want time away from the casinos this walk is a calming break!

You can tell the city has spent plenty of money upgrading this area. Need to try and do something about the homeless people there who approach visitors begging. Some really nice restaurants as well. You can sit and watch the kyakers practicing on the river.
