This newly remodeled downtown theater shows many old favorites that are no longer available at other venues and also newer small budget films which major theaters ignore. The seating is comfortable and they offer the popcorn, drinks & candy that one expects at a movie theater--all at reasonable prices.

What a great venue to stop and take in a movie. Concessions are cheap and all shows are an amazing $5.00. If you haven't seen this restored movie theatre and watched a movie in the incredible digital sound and video you need to.

Everyone has to visit the World Theatre at least once, but don't stop there. Its only open on weekends and minimal showings of old movies and special events, but when that movie you remember is there you have to go. $5 to get in $2-$5 drinks, $2-$5 popcorn and candy, comfortable spacious seating, what else could you want?

This is a remodeled theatre that is so remarkable that it is hard to describe. They show older classic movies plus have special events like the short film International Film ratings in October. This a very special theatre that should not be missed if coming to Kearney.

What a wonderful venue. Comfortable seats with plenty of room between rows. Hope they start playing Indie movies or Foreign films at some point.

I remember going to the rundown, dirty, stinky World Theatre growing up. It was always so sad to see such a historical theatre looking so pitiful. A few years ago the theatre closed and a foundation bought it with the plans of renovating it and bringing it back to life. I'm so happy to say that they have restored it to it's old glory and gave it life again. This theatre is incredibly beautiful now - one large screen, comfortable seats with lots of leg room, gorgeous details. The theatre is only open Friday-Sunday and plays a single feature for that weekend. They are showing classics, family friendly, and indie films - it's a perfect addition to this college town! PLUS, it's only $5 for your ticket and the concessions are super cheap. Thus far, I have gone to two movies and the quality of picture and sound are outstanding as are the the volunteers who run it because they are passionate about the movies and keeping The World alive. This is one of my new favorite spots in town - it will be visited often!
