I first got to know Galen Rowell through homework my son had to do about a famous photographer. He picked Galen Rowell, got to know his passion for the great outdoors and for climbing, his photographic style (a master of capturing light) and also the sad circumstances of his premature accidental death, together with his wife. What a great opportunity to visit the gallery, enjoy the masterprices and see Galen Rowell's climbing and photogrpahy gear. Like a temple visit for us. An emotional moment.

Galen and Barbra Rowell are superb photographers and this store is a gem of a store to visit while in Bishop. We have always enjoyed seeing their superb photography and usually buy the calendars and other items as well. It will inspire those who like to take pictures how magic this area is.

I had the privilege of meeting Galen and Barbara Rowell not long before their tragic deaths. To put it mildly, Mountain Light Gallery is an essential on a level equal to seeing the Sierra Nevada itself. If you can make only one stop in Bishop, make it Mountain Light Gallery.

Galen Rowell was a special photographer and an inspiration to my husband. We kept our expectations low and were blown away by the quality and size of the gallery. Many of Galen's most famous photos were displayed, some with personal stories. You can purchase unsigned prints in several different size and most of his books. His wife Barbara's work was also represented and they display the work of other nature photographers. We could feel his presence and it triggered great memories of the photo shooting trips that my husband and I have taken. Please take the time to visit and appreciate a true artist.

for any photographer a must. I loved it there. The gallery has great photographs and great books. What I liked as well was that you can look around without being bothered by sales people. You can really enjoy the photography.

Actually, the Mountain Light Gallery is as much a tribute to Mr. Rowell as it is to the mountains he loved to photograph. He was a lover of California's Sierra Mountain Range very much in the tradition of a Muir or Adams, but he also was a mountain and rock climber. This is a wonderful gallery to visit and the staff are both very laid-back and helpful if you have questions about which of the many Rowell collections you might like to purchase.

Great place to come and see some outstanding photography of the Sierras. I especially like this gallery as they have their high end items but also offer other items that could fit a smaller budget. Have one of their four seasons posters that I had framed.

We love to visit the Mountain Light Gallery. There is a wide variety of photographs featuring natural beauty and animals from around the world. Many of the photographs were made in the Owens River Valley area. They illustrate a natural beauty many of us miss while passing through the area.It was also nice to learn that Galen's son Tony has followed in his father's footsteps and is making great art.Take a few minutes to walk through this spectacular gallery,

More than an homage to it's founder, the world-famous Galen Rowell, this gem of the Eastern Sierra is a focal point (no pun intended) for anyone slightly and deeply interested in fine art photography. The gallery is an oasis isolating the visitor from the pulse of high desert living; the photography is unbelievably beautiful with collections of not only Rowell's work but that of many of the best landscape photographers.

A beautiful gallery with Galen Rowell and his wife's photography. We first saw some of his works at the Creek Side Imn and sought out the gallery to see more. He was a National Geographic photographer so there are photo from all over the world. Some of the most spectacular are of the local areas.

Breath-taking (and some even jaw-dropping) photos in a very pleasant space. If you've not seen this photographer's work, you should.
