If you're traveling through the Santa Cruz area and staying for a day or two, this Food Tour is excellent and a "disguise" for a fabulous history experience about the founding of Capitola. The tour guide takes you on a walking history tour of the area, stopping off at about 5 restaurants (even a Tea Room) where you meet the owners, learn about their foods and get some wonderful exercise to boot. This man is a walking history book and he brings the history to life in every way. He also runs a similar tour in Santa Cruz. Both are well worth the $35.00 and take about 4 hours.

We went on the Santa Cruz tour from these folks and it was so good we scheduled a Capitola tour. Again, an amazing tour full of history, great food and nice surprises about the people who made this place what it is today. This tour particularly is so scenic and pleasant with views to the ocean and, at one stop, eating practically right on the beach. I don't want to be a spoiler but the the last food stop is spectacular. We really appreciated how thoughtful this tour was. Not your typical tourist affair, and the guide even remembered all of our names! Don't miss it if you are in Capitola on a Thursday. These tours are only on weekdays.

My girlfriend and I were lucky enough to make it back to the Central Coast for another food tour. The folks who have created this new Capitola tour have an existing tour in Santa Cruz. We went on that one last summer and it was fantastic. This Capitola tour is every bit as good as their first one. Lots of stories, history, sites, and rock-solid food at four great establishments. This tour however is so scenic with beauty and marine vistas. It's a feast for the eyes. My favorite stop was the Shadowbrook Restaurant where we got to relax in a beautiful dining room with a wood-fired oven. I recommend this tour for anyone who likes food, history, likes to walk and learn more about the places they visit. Thumbs up!
