I laughed when I saw this as one of the top attractions in Clovis but they were right. If you get into second hand book stores, this is a nice one. Lots of books that are organized so you can find what you are looking for. Excellent help from the Staff in locating hard to find books. The prices are very reasonable too. Lots of chairs to sit and read; the second floor has more comfortable chairs and love seats than the first floor.

I have been coming to this book store every time I am in the Fresno area . They have a small but very good California / Central Valley/ Fresno book section which for me is a must stop .I have gotten books by local Valley authors that I really enjoy, plus I use them for research for my radio shows. The rest of the store is pretty cool with a large collection of stuff , I have even some of the old pulps in the collector section This is must stop for book freaks, as book stores are getting fewer and fewer Save the book stores

Living in Porterville, this was a trip for us to have lunch, do antique browsing, etc...and had seen this place on Tripadvisor and added it to our list of things to visit. I am so glad I did, as I have been searching for a cookbook that my Granny had of Frannie Famer. Now after a couple of years of looking, I found it here at the Book Barn. Prices are good, staff are very helpful. If you aren't into ereaders, this is the place to go......

Amazing quantity of used books at great prices. We are voracious readers and tire of our small local library. This is the place! We really enjoy being able to find multiple books by favorite authors.

For those who still like to hold a book in their hands, this is a great local place to find a huge selection of used books. They have a great selection of current reads and even the collectibles. If you like browsing books, this is your happy place in Clovis, especially if you are from out of town and looking to kill some time. Staff is Old Town friendly and knowledgable, with deals to be had.

This is a wonderful bookstore with a friendly atmosphere. A local family owns & runs it, and has preserved the 'old town' atmosphere of this unique building. So many books, not enough time....... You will want to stay for hours, and no one will bug you. There is an open air view of the upstairs, and a huge old wooden stairway on each end of the store. They moved from a smaller location in downtown Clovis, a few blocks away. This is a great location for them, with much more room. They have everything from sci-fi books to classics. Sell your old books, buy a few more, you can't stay away.

When travelling, I enjoy browsing the local used book stores...if I can find one. But as a resident of Clovis, CA - I really don't have to look far. First, I received a friendly greeting and was given the lay of the land, as this is a rather large shop. I enjoy finding my way around on my own, but it's always nice to have some kind of orientation. The book selection is not lean - very comprehensive. Along the stacks there are places to sit and get to know the books you're considering purchasing. I can easily spend an hour here browsing, and that's being conservative. There's something for everybody. If you're a traveller looking for a place to stretch your legs and spend a little time - this would be it. The Book Barn offers a San Francisco used book store experience, right here at the "Gateway to the Sierras".

The Book Barn is a fabulous used book store. It is HUGE and well organized. I've been I about 4 times because my teenage daughters love to browse around in there as well. The employees are always kind and appreciate our business. Clovis does not have a great bookstore which is quite unfortunate, but The Book Barn often fills this need. :)

Great variety of books and great prices. They also buy and trade back books. A lot science fiction books and books for teens.

Dan has moved into his current new store location from a much smaller venue. He now has room for a stunning inventory of both fiction and non-fiction books of all types. Plenty of room to lounge around. Frequent literary events. Active supporter of Fresno county "Friends of the Library". Be sure to stop in if you are in the neighborhood.

Went to hear a lecture by a screen writer last year. It was excellent. I would return, but not to hear someone like Bonnie Hearn Hill.

2 floors of used books in great condition. Novels, historical nonfiction (my preference), art, bios, religion, children's books in pristine shape. The owners apparently moved last August to this new, way larger location in Old Town Clovis (behind the new fire station and adjacent to a cigar shop). As one clerk said, I may as well work here because I'd be here all the time anyway. If you return the books for resale, you get a credit toward buying more books there. Only problem: Too handy from where I live, so will be beating a path there way too often.
