Getting to the beach can be a bit treacherous as the paths work their way down the cliffs. The scenery was absolutely one of the best of our visit up Hwy 1. Had lunch at the Davenport Roadhouse which was also very good.

Not the biggest beach (kinda small for walking) nor the prettiest (though there's cliffs and waves and soft sand), but your dog will LOVE it. Lots of dogs off leash running around, sniffing the seaweed, and each other. Parking is easy. What could be better for an afternoon with your canine companion. 3 stars for people, 5 stars for dogs!

We bought some items from the Swanton Berry Farms and brought it here to eat while getting air. There were a lot of people camping along the back of the beach. We sat on a rock and enjoyed the view, the sun and the fresh air. It was nice to relax for a little while. There is a small parking lot, no fee. You walk down across the tracks along the path to the beach.

We went there today for the first time with 4 toddlers and a little dog. An off-leash 100 lb dog came out of nowhere and attacked our dog. My husband was holding our baby on one side and scooped up our dog on the other side while the 100 lb dog lunged up to attack. My husband was able to wrestle this thing down with the help of sister. We were so scared the dog or the baby got mauled. Be aware that the people who take their dogs here may be irresponsible. The owner finally came up and blamed us for the attack because we "picked up our dog". Never mind we had 4 little kids under the age of 5 with us and were just standing there unprovoked.

This is a great beach for a quiet day on the beach. It's located about 10 miles north of Santa Cruz, so away from the crowds. You park across the street from the main area of Davenport and walk along the old rails a short ways and hike down the bluff to access the cove. The beach itself is scenic and beautiful, a great place to hang out for the day. My teenage girl and her friends loved it! I loved it because it was away from the crowds!

This is a beautiful area of Davenport, near Santa Cruz, that has incredible natural scenery. The beach is great for beach combing, relaxing, and exploring. The waves can get rough and spectacular, and keep an eye out for the high and low tide tables. Bring warm clothes in layers, and many people end up getting wet from climbing along the rocks. Have fun, don't miss this terrific spot, and stay safe.

This beach is not obviously accessible from the highway. Most people stop in Davenport for a bite to eat at one of the 3 awesome restaurants in this tiny little coastal town (population 300). It's a bit of a hike down to the beach, you have to cross the railroad tracks, which is actually pretty cool, and follow a foot path down the cliffs. The beach has a rock structure that looks strikingly like a shark's tooth. There's great opportunity for tide pool exploration and beach glass collection. If you follow the foot path to the north, along the cliffs, you will find a rarely seen sight- what remains of the old Davenport pier. The cliffs are eroding, so be careful out there. There are some huge beautiful trees to sit under or climb and in the spring the path is overflowing with wild flowers. It's definitely worth the stop. If you need to use the restroom, grab a quick drink or a pack of cigarettes, check out Arro's Country store. Emad and Mike will take care of you.

Great little beach. Feels special in that it is a bit hidden away. Drive down Davenport landing road to get to it. If the Abalone farm is open, turn at the sign for the farm (if not, the sign won't be there so just look for the street sign). It is a bit north of Davenport. The walk down to the beach is easy, there is either a path on the right or stairs on the left, neither is steep or long, but the stair are next to the facilities which smelt awful. The beach itself is pleasant and there are great tidepools (sea urchins, starfish, crabs, mussels, hermit crabs, barnacles). My favorite thing was the swing (kids swing and adult porch swing). You can swing and look at the ocean. My unfavorite thing was that this is a beach that allows dogs (or at least there are people with dogs) and they don't clean up after them (even near the swing where kids will be playing and the water won't wash it away)... so inconsiderate!!!

Tough to park at this beach and I have often found a lot of trash and cigarette butts on pathways. The beach shrinks a lot in high tides. Usually quite windy and there is a big drain from abalone farm running through it.

This is a great beach to watch the colorful, exciting sport of kite surfing (or to try it yourself). Parking and a sandy beach are available.

This beach feels completely wild yet a short (though steep and rocky) path from the village of Davenport which has great art gallery and gourmet restaurant near top of path.

We've stopped by in Davenport to take a break and get some Coke. Before returning to our car we had a feeling to go and check what lays behind the railway track and we were flattered. An empty beach embraced by massive cliffs and underground water stream coming from rocks straight to the ocean... impressive!

There were mroe surgers here than any of the other beaches so defnitely worht a stop to watch the local residents in action!
