Had a terrific tasting at Burgess. Was lucky to have been recommended by a DC sommelier to this small family owned winery Would recommend their wines to anyone interested in Cabernet Sauvignon. If I recall it's by appointment only but we were able to get squeezed in with another couple. The place is simple and nice up on Howell Mountain. Had a very nice tasting and purchased some bottles.

We went to Burgess with friends. Despite the effect the drought has on the land this is some amazing property! I really recommend to stop here. I believe this vineyard is by appointment only. It was a very nice tasting. The tasting room is simple, but nice. We really enjoyed the wines we sampled. I felt that the tasting was very generous. Don't skip this one if you have a small group and can get here!

Burgess Cellars at 1108 Deer Park Road in the Napa valley has the most incredible cabernet sauvignon coming from fantastic vineyards. Small, creative and deeply connected to the whole historic Napa experience, Tom Burgess and now his son Steve operate a great winery.

Burgess Cellars is a small family owned winery. While some of the large corporate owned wineries have impressive glitz and glam, we enjoy the smaller family/privately held wineries where the experience is authentic and wine-centric. Burgess Cellars is one of our favorites. We have been twice, and both times were able to have a tasting hosted by one of the Burgess family (Tom the founder, and the second time by Steve his son). They are friendly down to earth people who simply focus on making the best possible reds. Unpretentious but warm tasting room. The wines are just superb. The Burgess Cabs are our favorite. We joined the wine club, because we've never met a Burgess Cellars wine we didn't like. The views from the winery are beautiful. If you are looking to get way from the crowds and pretentiousness of the wine tourist business, and are simply looking for an authentic and enjoyable experience with the people who grow the grapes and nurture then into fabulous wines...Burgess Cellars is a must for your "to do" list in Wince Country.
