We had been told that this was one of the better winery tastin rooms to visit in the area and my husband and I both felt it was the best of about 10 tasting rooms we visited on our trip. The server was very accommodating and encouraged us to enjoy a table out on the deck in order to enjoy the fabulous views and he brought out each successive taste to us at our outside table. The location, setting, views were superior! Good wine too! Definitely, stop by here first if in the area.

The Sierra foothills are just 30 minutes outside of Sacramento and chalked full of boutique style wineries. Skinner Vineyards happens to be one of our favorites! Their tasting room is beautifully done in dark wood with a stone fire place for ambiance and the deck is the perfect place to enjoy amazing views while sipping their Rhone style wines. We highly recommend visiting Skinner Vineyards!

We were staying in the area with a relative when they suggested we go to "that winery with the great view". I managed to find Skinner Vineyard and Winery via a search on Yelp with the words "wine tasting view" and was pleased to discover it was just a couple of miles away. We arrived around 4.15pm on a Thursday evening - they close at 5. We were invited to enjoy our wine tasting outside on the patio by the very friendly and well travelled Dallas, who is new to the area and Skinners, but could not have been more helpful. The views over the valley were just lovely and we enjoyed most of the 7(?) wine tastings they served us - cost is $10 per person or free if you buy a bottle. We were most appreciative of their dog friendly policy and thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon. Would love to return another day when we can also enjoy their new catering service paired with the wines. With many wineries in the area, Skinner is definitely worth a visit - with it's lovely grounds, ambiance, views, trickling waterfall, fireplaces and stylish tasting room.

Skinner Vineyards, a relative newcomer to the Fair Play wine area in the Sierra Foothills, has quickly established themselves as a producer of premium quality Rhone style wines. The facilities are new and the style evokes the family legacy that dates back to the gold rush era. The deck behind the tasting room is spacious and furnished nicely with tables and seating for visitors to picnic or to simply enjoy the spectacular panoramic views of the local wine growing region and and the Sierra Nevada mountains. The wines are priced attractively for their superior quality. There is a $7 tasting fee which is refunded if you purchase wine. A small deli case is stocked with specialty cheeses and crackers available for purchase. Skinner is a winery "not to be missed" when you are visiting Fair Play.
