I love this restaurant. The decor is clean and beautiful, and the restaurant itself is not loud. Service is always excellent. But the food is the star, as it should be. The menu is not huge but there are plenty of choices for every taste. BoBeau is justifiably known for the amazing and irresistible brussels sprouts which are just plain mandatory as an appetizer. The vegetarian entrees include garlic mash potatoes, mushroom "escargots" in a heavenly broth, very tasty tomato soup with an indulgent grilled cheese mini sandwich. The other side of the table had the quinoa cakes with squash and are planning to return soon to repeat it, along with the beet salad. This is by far the best place to eat in East County and I can hardly wait for my next visit there!I have eaten there with people who eat meat an fish and they have been delighted with their entrees as well.

Love the menu. Love the spaciousness - inside and out. Waitstaff know their business. A very pleasant place to dine!

The best part of BO-beau is the roasted brussel sprouts. After that you are looking at decent but overpriced food. The restaurant in Ocean Beach is a nightmare to find parking for. The new La Mesa one has better parking but no better food. I was under-impressed.

DisappointedWe found this place cold, both in temperature and in ambiance. The wine glasses were small and only partially filled.The wine list categorized the lower cost wines as "Cheap" implying anyone who orders from this grouping is one cheap dude. Not nice and unprofessional.We had ordered an appetizer, the cheese board, which was OK. However, before we could finish the appetizer and enjoy our wine, we were told to move our appetizer plates to make room for our dinners. Really? We were being rushed, even though we had 5:00 reservations and they did not have to fit us in. They seemed to focus on turning the tables and not on customer service.I ordered the Steak Frites with herb butter which was OK. However, my wife ordered the Mahi Mahi which was over caramelized, adding a burnt taste to to the meal.I doubt we will return. However, we are open to trying the Ocean Beach venue.

Let me start by saying this is one of those new style restaurants with lots of open spaces and no soundproofing. This seems to be the new trend - I can't imagine who likes it!This place is noisy and while the food is tasty, there are many "in" things on the menu like the very popular duck confit and pork belly, and not much in the way of choices. The portions are on the small side and we found the service to be good, but not very quick. It's nice that we didn't feel hurried, but we didn't want to sit on the hard chairs all night waiting for our bill either.They do have some regular items, like mac and cheese and burgers, as well as flatbread, so I'm sure you'd find something to like.
