I have fished with Jack back in California and it was a hoot meeting up with him for a day in Chile. As always, Jack worked hard to maximize our experience, despite having to deal with a cruise ship schedule. He put my wife and I into many fish while not forgetting to give us a picture of the area along the way. Magnificent fishing, magnificent river, magnificent food. Thanks for a great day Jack.

Have just had 3 days fishing in the Peurto Varas area with Jack and another of his guides Matteos they both worked very hard to put us onto fish in very difficult circumstances. On the first day it rained very hard but we still enjoyed the experience and caught trout with Matteos who looked after us very well. The second and third day I fished with Jack wading and drift fishing in low water conditions still caught lots of fish including my best rainbow trout ever. Both guides are very encouraging to a beginner like me on trout and great company to be with. Can recommend them in Chile and a beautiful area to visit.

My husband and I went out with Jack a few days ago. My husband had been out fly fishing twice before, but I had never held a fly rod. By the end of the day I had reeled in 2 fish, and had more on my line than I can remember. My husband wasn't quite as lucky, but Jack was passionate about helping my husband, and working the river until he was successful. His wife had prepared a delicious lunch, we enjoyed along the riverside. Weather also cooperated beautifuuly, so we had an incredible outing. Jack enthusiasm is above and beyond, and we really enjoyed his stories on the history of Chili, as well, as his excellence as a guide. Would definitely recommend!

It was a great day fishing with Jack Trout in Puerto Montt, Chile! Jack provided a first class trip fishing on the Petrohue. Being an American from one of the best fisheries in the US, and having guided in Chile for many years, Jack has all the most up to date equipment and assortment of flies and techniques. He was one of the original fishing guides in Chile when its sport fishing industry was being first developed in the early 1990's. I have personally fly fished both fresh and salt water ranging from Alaska, Canada, NWT, both US coasts, Mexico and can say without hesitation that he ranks right at the top of guide services. Jack is well known and has also been the guest speaker at our California fly fishing club besides speaking up and down California at various fly fishing venues.His lunch was also a delight which included delicious Chilean fare! Without a doubt, he is your first choice in Chilean and northern California fishing guides!

Seven days of heaven. Jack and Carola met us at the bus terminal in Valdivia, Chile and loaded us in their Toyota Forerunner for a trip across the Andes to Argentina. Jack arranged an excellent Argentina guide for us. Superb results fishing on the Melleo, Alumine River. Wading on the Chimehuin R. in two 50 meter riffles we extracted over 50 fish in a few hours. Returning to Chile we waded the Petrohue, landing three 10+ lb. rainbows, the scream of the reel,the bend of the rod and racing across boulders with Jack shouting encouragement are firmly etched in my mind. The fishing was incredible but Jack and Carola's hospitality made for a complete experience, they are true friends now. Fine friends, superb fishing and a great adventure, what more can one ask for??

Mattias treated us to a great day on the river. We are novice (at best) and Mattias gave us instruction throughout the float as well as treating us to great laughs along the way. We would love to get back to Chile and fish with Mattias or Jack.Jack handled all the logistics perfectly. Fish with them for a great trip.

I booked a trip thru Jack to fly fish the flats out of Hopkins with Lloyd Nunez. I had a memorable day with Lloyd and his son, Franz. They are amazing fish finders-I had the opportunity to cast to more fish in one day, than I've seen in 3 trips fishing the Florida Keys. Franz spotted a tailing permit from 100 yards in broken water-incredible. These guys are all business and will put you on fish, but they are also wonderful chaps to spend a day with in a beautiful place. Lloyd brought homemade burritos for lunch!! Overall great experience, hope to go with them again.

I made a call to Jack Trout and immediately felt like he was someone I have known for years. My 3 boys were traveling throughout Chile for a couple weeks and I wanted to connect them with Jack once they arrived in Puerto Montt. Jack offered to pick the boys up from the ferry, called hotels in the area at midnight for them and was terrific in communicating with me. Jack picked the guys up bright and early, had a fabulous day of fishing, enjoyed a hearty lunch and then Jack dropped them off at the airport. We were on a 31 day South American Cruise and booked this fishing trip on our own directly with Jack and his wife online. They were marvelous. First time fly fishing for us and Jack held both our hands all the way. We actually caught fish. Jack was great with us, we laughed and had a wonderful time with him. If his wife Carola comes along you are blessed, she is very charming. Also the shore lunch she prepared with a bottle of wine was great. He supplied everything for us and made it very easy for us. We would book Jack again in a minute!!

We rented a cabin on the hills of Llanquihue Chile from Jack & Carola Trout on Air BnB and we are so glad we found them. The first day we had a flat tire and they went out their way to help us get it patched by a local who charged us nearly nothing and then I had a problem with my tooth losing a crown that was very uncomfortable. Jack & Carola set up an appointment and actually drove us into Puerto Montt, 20 miles from where we were staying and sat with us patiently while I had my tooth repaired by an excellent dentist they knew. We enjoyed their cabin so much we ended up staying for two weeks instead of the original 8 days we had contracted for. One night they came over and had a barbecue with us and we enjoyed each others company sharing ideas on what we should do daily. We even told them we didn’t care for the coffee here in Chile and Jack loaned us his filter he had, and we had fresh ground coffee for our enjoyment daily. These people are rare, they care about satisfying the client more than making a profit in business. We were impressed on how comfortable their cabin was, the beds and the incredible views of 5 volcanoes and Lago Llanquihue. If you are thinking about staying around the Puerto Varas area and hiring a guide, look no further as Jack & Carola will help you in every way and make your dream vacation with your family as much as a pleasure as ours. They even helped us turn in our rent a car and gave us ride back from the Puerto Montt airport and saw us back onto the bus in Puerto Varas. What great people to do something like this without us even asking. Thank you Jack & Carola and we hope to meet you again sometime, who knows maybe in Northern California or Belize.

I booked two days of fly fishing in Belize with Jack Trout. From the beginning he made it a very easy process and he helped guide me on what to bring, etc. His guide Lloyd goes out of a small town called Hopkins about 3hrs. South of Belize City. Lloyd was a great guide and was a pleasure to fish with. The best part of the trip was him working with my son (13) to help him catch his first FOUR bonefish on a fly rod! Great trip - thanks Jack for the great memories..

I had a fantastic fishing experience with Jack and his wife Carola in Puerto Varas, Chile. Everything was taken care of from airport pickup to lodging and meals. It was my first time ever fly-fishing and I am now hooked thanks to Jack's extensive knowledge and skill in the sport. Both Jack and Carola are wonderful people and I would highly recommend touring with them for an authentic experience that will give you exposure to more than just fishing but to the culture, people and food of Chile.

Myself and a colleague were at the tail-end of our study abroad program in Chile and decided to finish up our Chile experience with a fly-fishing fishing adventure. We were very lucky to have found Jack Trout. Jack and his wife define the word host and guide, they coordinated everything from flights to meals and helped make our final six days in Chile perfect.Fishing was fantastic, Jack knows and understands many of Southern Chile's rivers and puts you on fish. I have fished on five contingents and hired many guides, and I can say that Jack is at the top of my list. I highly recommend contacting Jack and Carola next time you visit Chile!

just returned from a fishing trip in chile with Jack Trout,and have got to say it was the best fishing trip ever.the rivers are spectacular,the cleanest i have ever seen and the scenery is stunning.jack booked all of the hotels for us and the accomodation was superb.the fishing was of exceptional quality,all the fish were in superb condition , very hard fighting and we caught lots! jack also took us on a trip into the mountains,showing us the beautiful scenery in places that he had discovered on his fishing trips.its true what they say-fishing always takes you to the best places! as a guide jack was very hard working,going to great lengths to keep us happy and informed about chile its history ,geography etc.cant recommend him highly enough-great man and a brilliant guide,i shall be booking with him again.
