Went to several wine tasting rooms while traveling in the "Gold Country." This room offered great wine choices and we purchased several bottles of Zinfandels. Good prices also. I liked walking around to the barrel area. Check this one out on your way to Murphy's...

The first time that we stayed in Murphy's at Black Bear Inn, Bruce and Wendy, the Innkeepers served us wine from Chatom Winery. We enjoyed it so much that on our way home we stopped at Chatom Winery and bought several bottles of the wine we had and chose some other kinds of their wine to try. The second time that we stayed at Black Bear Inn, we stopped again on our way home at Chatom Winery and bought a couple of cases of their wines. Their shop is fun to visit, the people are helpful and friendly and, of course, the wine is terrific.

I'm sure you'll find a great wine here that you'll enjoy. The staff at this winery could not be nicer, or more friendly. We last visited during the Calaveras Wine Passport Weekend and their winery could not have been more welcoming. They had it in a separate area from the main tasting room, and their food selection was oustanding. We've stopped several times in the past and have always enjoyed the experience. They have a very nice gift soft too, with several unusual items on display. A really nice experience. You'll definitely enjoy the beautiful grounds.

Remember Sonoma before it went commercial...well this is like they once were...the area has about fifteen wineries and many are Mom and Pop places that make some pretty good stuff.

We thoroughly enjoyed their 2008 Sirah and were prompted to pick up a couple of bottles of the 2005 at the local market.

The owner (Gay) is a wonderfully fun lady. She and her staff are very attentive to their customers, they have GREAT wines, condiments, souveniers. Occasional patio dinners with music and wine sampling. An enjoyable outdoor patio area.

When in the Murphy's area wine tasting, remember to visit Chatom...as it is not on Main Street, but a quick drive down Hwy 4 - well worth the short drive. This winery has consistently good to great red wines at reasonable prices. Their Syrah is especially wonderful.

First stop on the Presidents' Wine Weekend. Wine was good and the food sampling was the best of all the wineries we stopped at. Gardens were nice as well.

On our way camping in Arnold my husband and I decided to stop at Chaton Winery. When you arrive at Chaton you’ll notice the beautiful landscaping. We had our dog with us so we tied him just outside the tasting room. In the tasting room we were happily greeted and told our dog could join us as long as he behaves. We were so happy that we were able to do this. Not only were we happily greeted but our dog was with a treat! This place is great! The wine was wonderful along with the food pairings. Even better, the tasting was free! We bought three bottles and will return each time we head up camping!
