campground set among the pines, good hiking, nice museum and historic gold mining site. Near town of Graeagle, groceries, restaurants, shopping.

...this is the campground for you. it was nice enough to stay here, there is a creek that runs thru the grounds and a trail to the museum. we had problems with squirrels harvesting acorns off very tall Jeffrey Pines. the acorns are huge death bombs with spikes. my wife got injured and our tent was ruined. be sure you pick a good spot.

We had a reservation to stay in a cabin at Camp Layman, nearby. Check-in was at 3pm so we had time to kill. Our group was four adults, an infant and six children, ages 3 to 10. We decided to meet at noon at Plumas-Eureka State Park to have a picnic lunch. After lunch, we visited the historic sites, staffed with passionate volunteers who made the Gold Rush Days come alive. Everyone learned something and thoroughly enjoyed our time. A Big Special Thanks to an employee named Pat, who was the highlight of our visit! We all agreed that we must go back to hike, camp and explore this wonderful State Park.

The history of this place is very interesting and the volunteers here share their passion and make that history come to life!!

Nice mountain to visit and play and relax in. It has many lakes to swim, fish, and kayak in. Trails for exploring and boy, the majestic scenery. Old mining town nestled up in the thick pine forest. There are golf courses, wine bars, nice restaurants near by. It's tranquil, relaxing, and so much to do for everyone. You can easily have a whole week here and have something different to do every day. I had a very nice time here. It was my second time here. And I am marking it as one of my favorite places.

This was my first visit and it's a lovely spot. We met our Audubon group for a birding outing. It was a perfect spot. It was beautiful, full of wildflowers, and many birds to see. It was a really easy walk around the park.

This is a beautiful place to camp, hike and explore! You need a small trailer, RV or tent though. Big rigs or even 30 footers don't fit. Lots of mining equipment and stamp mill to check out. The museum is small but interesting. Lots of trails to enjoy. The small town of Johnsville is 100 yards away from the museum and they have an old cemetery worth checking out.

Camp by Jamison Creek or high up on the mountain. Fish, hike, or pan for gold. Sites available for motor homes which spoil the natural beauty of the place.

We went on a beautiful hike here - great views. Also, if you're interested in mining history, you'll want to check out the visitor's center.

This park has a lot of really cool campsites - especially on the perimeters. Great hikes - the lakes trail goes right from the campground, Jameson creek - put your river shoes on and go right up the creek that runs through the campground, Eureka Peak trail is a short drive away with rewarding vistas at the top. The big attraction is at night when the universe we live in is so readily apparent. Astronomy buffs from all over come to take advantage of the clear skies and lack of light pollution. A lot of easy hiking nearby in the lakes basin and the challenges of the Sierra Buttes for the more adventurous. Campground is at 5200' so it does go down into the forties at night and hydration is a real consideration in this dry climate.

We have camped several times at Plumas Eureka SP and have enjoyed each visit very much. Several hikes are accessible from the area leading to wonderful views or excellent lakes. The museum is small but very interesting as well as the nearby "ghost town". An excellent State Park!

The Plumas Eureka State Park has wonderful little museum, working blacksmith shop, assay office, stamp mill. The hikes from the campground, Jamison Mine, or the Museum parking are varried. Great peaks to climb, or nature trails to follow. Great for the junior ranges too.

Stayed there two nights, had a wonderful spot next to the stream. Very clean park. It was a really nice quite campground. Had some nice hikes right out of the campground.

This campground is spread out far enough for privacy in most cases, has plenty of shade, free hot showers and flush toilets. Will definitely come back and stay again.

The Plumas-Eureka State Park offers a great museum and wonderful hiking. We found an old mine on one hike and enjoyed an informative free talk about bears at the campground.
