Charming little park in the heart of Poway with a cute train ride for children. Top it off with a meal at The Hamburger Factory. Great breakfasts and lunches.

Get yourself aboard the train even if you forgot the kids or don't have any with you. A fun ride through a gorgeous setting of old trees and big spaces.

Kids really like the whole scene, but any day other than Saturday would be my advice. We had to wait for forty minutes.

Ride a 1907 Baldwin steam locomotive around the park on the first and third weekends of the month. Visit the depot/gift store, and stop by the train barn to also see a 1894 Los Angeles trolley and San Francisco cable car. Small fee to ride the train.

We had so much fun with our grandsons riding the train, and walking the farmers market.! We can't wait to go back.

The Railroad adds so much to the atmosphere and fun offered by the Old Midland Poway area. A fun way to celebrate your kids birthdays could be spent riding antique the train around the park. The all-volunteer staff make this a real "adventure".

Picture 1) Mr. Rogers' neighborhood, 2) Judy Garland singing that it was grand just to stand with his hand holding hers....till the end of the line, and 3) the Chicago Railroad Fairs of the 50s fighting for space in my head as I took the two-lap trip around the park on the TROLLEY!! The 1894 bright yellow Los Angeles trolley car!! Two dollars for adults; 50 cents for children. Find your engineer cap and climb on board. I have ridden on every piece of equipment the railroad offers, but the trolley is the best. Check in advance to find out if it's running on the weekend you plan to visit.

Little people (and big people, too) will enjoy riding the rails at the Poway-Midland Railroad. Run by volunteers on the weekends only, fares are affordable for families and the ride rarely requires much of a wait, if any at all. Circle Old Poway Park a couple of times and check out the folks enjoying a picnic under the giant oak trees. Hungry? The Hamburger Factory is right there and ready to serve breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Great weekend adventure for families with children. The Saturday morning shopping (fresh, organic fruits and vegetables; bread; tamales; flowers) extends the fun in the park

It is worth a visit to this park, especially on the weekends. The trains are running, there's a farmers market and The Hamburger Factory is right there as well. Certain times they have an old west weekend where people are dressed as pioneers and cowboys.

We live within walking distance to Old Poway Park.. It is in a beautiful setting (I'd elaborate, but that is a different review). The railroad is quite unique and a main attraction of the park. The restoration, history, and mechanical features probably make the railroad more exciting to enthusiasts than to preschoolers. Don't get me wrong - children love train. If you child is into Thomas, then a visit here is a must. However, if they have outgrown Thomas and are onto superhero or fairytales or whatever is next, they will not bee too impressed. The 1/3 mile loops makes for a pretty short ride, but at least the price is reasonable. My wife purchased the annual pass six months ago for the entire family - I think she has been once (the day she bought the pass). If you come, make sure it is on the 1st or 3rd weekend of the month - that is when the steam engine runs. Other times it is a small electric car.The train is a wonderful thing to do with visitors (cousins, grandparents, etc.). As I mentioned - the scenery and nearby businesses complement the train very well.I suggest checking the City of Poway Community Services Department webpage to see if there are any upcoming events at Old Poway Park. The nearly bi-monthly events are always free and can enhance your experience.

A small but unique collection of antique trains, well maintained, and running every weekend. Such an asset to this "City in the Country", taking kids and adults on a 2-lap trip around Old Poway Park. Trains change weekly.

What more can you ask for? Come on a Saturday for a farmer's market/craft fair, some good down home cooking at the restaurant in the park and go for a little train ride.

While Poway never actually had a railroad, in the 1920's they tried to get a rail line. Somehow in the 1980, someone was able to get a old rainway car. Now Poway has a track that goes all of the way around the community park located on Midland Road. The Poway-Mildand railroad has great atmospher and good food. It is trip back in time.

We had a fun time with the kids on the Trolley and looking around the park. After a week of Disney and Legoland we were ready for an easy afternoon. The volunteers running the railroad were very nice to the kids and the kids tickets are only .50. Come see the park.
