Did this trek with a friend from Los Angeles who was up for the day. The scenery was lovely but the trail was a disaster. It had washed away in some places and was overgrown in others. Some local group needs to adopt!

Too bad the graffiti spoils the waterfall. The Punch Bowl hike requires scrambling over boulders and the ability to keep track of the trail along with bush wracking to reach the fall. I can only imagine the efforts that people take to haul beer a d paint cans yet do not have the courage to haul out the debris from the parties. To have such a calming spot spoiled by the debris is disappointing. As a result I cannot recommend this hike. There are better places to take a hike.

Hike up the road through Thomas Aquinas College and follow the signs to the trail. Yes, do continue through the archway that marks the ranch. Watch out for the ranch's loose dogs, they'll bark and stand in the road. We yelled at them and waved our arms and they took off. Wear appropriate shoes because there are some rock scrambles and you'll need to cross a few streams.
