This is a nice place to camp, especially if you're a Redding area resident. Located below Shasta Dam, it's close to the river, the Sacramento River trail and has great access to hiking. Of course, the biggest draw is the off road trails for dirt bikes, ATV's, etc. The campground is small (22 sites), but it's far enough from the OHV area that the motorcycle noise isn't really an issue.

All the other trails around the north state are closed because of snow but CHappie-Shasta was not so we decided to check it out. It was worth it and have to say this will be our first pick next summer.

A group of us went with our ATVs for the holiday weekend and it was a blast. They have everything here camping, fishing, OHV area with over 300 miles of trails. We were able to bring our trailer and just camp for the night and come back to eat then ride all day. Even the younger kids loved it. There are also many hiking trails around this area that were just beautiful as well as the dam. There was a variety of things to do in one area its great of everyone. This is a must do if you love the outdoors!
