Sentinel dome was a nice, moderate hike which offered fabulous 360 degree view of Yosemite. Strongly recommend this hike!!

Good view and good lesson place for onion peeling domes of Yosemite, since thick overburden soil weight has been removed by John Muir-proven glaciation.

Great walk from glazier point harder going than you think because of the altitude but well worth it. We walked back down to curry village from here a real trip highlight

This is a relatively easy hike for a highly rewarding view. Glacier Point has the better view, but the upside here is a smaller crowd and full 360 degree view. If you are up this way, make the hike. If you are not, don't drive all the way up just for this hike.

Glacier Point Rd was open so we visited both Glacier Point and Sentinel Dome on the same day in mid-May. While the parking lot at the Sentinel Dome trail-head was full, the trail and the summit felt relatively secluded and we had no difficulty finding a quiet place to eat our lunch and admire the stunning long-range views. Conversely, Glacier Point offered similar views but the sheer number of visitors there made it nearly impossible to enjoy the natural beauty. It was a rather stark contrast between the quiet reverence at Sentinel and the boisterous crowd at Glacier. It's a short hike and scramble to Sentinel, so if you're in decent shape this is a must see. We parked on the shoulder of the road which is easiest to approach after visiting Glacier point if you do both. The top of the dome is large and slopes moderately until you get to the edges, so best to keep the kiddos close if you bring them to the top.

Sentinel Dome is a must-hike for those who are in shape. Make sure that you stay hydrated though as the elevation will get you.The hike is moderate to strenuous, but the reward is worth it - a panoramic view of Half Dome and the surrounding Yosemite Valley. Stunning!

Do the whole park but do not forget this place. Be prepared for thourists as you are....hard to park and not romantic with a few hundred people

Glacier Point is amazing, but it is very crowded. I went to Sentinel Dome in early June (a busy time for the park) and got to see spectacular views after a short and easy hike. I didn't want to leave because there was just so much to take in.

We hiked this relatively short (2.2 miles round trip, 380 ft elevation gain) trail one evening to catch a sunset. The trailhead and parking area are along Glacier Point Road. It was a peaceful place to watch the sun set, as there were only a few other people up there.

The path to Sentinel Dome from the parking area is well worn and fairly easy. Once you get to the dome you should climb it for the best views of Yosemite Falls around. You can see a lot of the park from this vantage point. If you continue the path just north of the dome, along the rim of the canyon, you'll find a great hike to Taft Point full of beautiful vistas and creeks. The best thing is that it's a fairly easy path to hike. It's a good hike for those who can do about four miles, but the only real up and down is on Taft Point. You do have to hike down the trail to get to Taft Point itself and then hike back up the trail to get to the parking lot. The parking lot for Taft Point is the same as Sentinel Dome.

Say what? Only 2.2 miles round trip for breathtaking views of Yosemite? Yes please! Can't say enough good things about Sentinel Dome. The distance and grade make it an option for the vast majority of visitors. You'll have 360-degree views at the top. Yellowstone Falls to the north and Half Dome to the east are the highlights.

The hike to the top takes about 45 minutes, and being at altitude, it's a decent workout. The panoramic views from the top are amazing. This is also where the famous tree photographed by Ansel Adams was located. The tree fell a long time ago, but the trunk still lies there. Definitely worth the visit.

This is a hidden gem to me in Yosemite, since Half Dome gets so much attention. But this view is amazing and doesn't take all day, 2-4 hours depending on time up top. Evening colors in the sky are good for photos if air quality is clear. The hike is 7000 ft+ so you need to be in shape and have lots of water. There are sections to climb like large boulders but nothing too technical. This is off Glacier trail so springtime would still be covered with snow. But good for fall trips. I avoid summer because the crowds are too overwhelming.

We left at 5:00AM to drive up to Glacier point for sunrise. Luckily Yosemite did not yet have its first snowfall, so the road was still open (make sure to check beforehand). It takes about an hour from the village to get there. We can a bear cub, fox and many deer along out journey- make sure to drive slowly and keep your eyes peeled! Gorgeous sunrise! You must stop at Sentinel Dome on your way back and take that short hike to the rock scramble (easy, don't worry), for yet another gorgeous view of all of the mountains- we stayed at the top for over an hour, meditating, and taking it all in.
