Recently restored by Crescent City cleanup, this is a really old cemetary with gravestones dating back 200 years. It's right behind Home Depot and worth a little stop. Very sweet place.

When we visited Crescent City, there is a nice memorial to Brother Jonathan, which was a steamship that crashed and many died. There have been over the years various search parties to try to find the Brother Jonathan; we have enjoyed seeing an exhibit about it at the California State Fair once. As such, seeing this site was very thoughtful with its view towards the Pacific Ocean.

There is something magnetic about this park. The monument to the Brother Jonathan is done with honor. The park leads to a gorgeous overlook/ picnic area on the cliffs above our special home by the mighty Pacific. With the lighthouse in sight, and views of the sunset ever changing, this place is truly a local treasure.

It was a beautiful little park, very well maintained and the history was interesting. It was nice that they took the original headstones and embedded them into the circle in the center of the park. The views out to the ocean and lighthouse are awesome and great for pictures

Excellent piece of history close to beach , park and agate beds . A huge part of history that honestly gets overlooked by locals

My husband and I did not know about the Brother Jonathan Cemetery until we happened upon it while exploring Crescent City. It is a memorial to the people who lost their lives on the Brother Jonathan steamer that sunk in 1865. I wanted to find out the story behind this and I bought a book called "TreasureShip" when I got home.I like to visit places and then go home and read more about the places we find.

Stopping at this cemetery by the overlook was very interesting. I had no idea about the wreck or the history behind the name. Worth looking up!

It is an old graveyard with nice old trees. It would mean more to me maybe if I was researching family history there.

We toured the Crescent City Coastline from the Pier to the view of St George Lighthouse. Stopping at all the viewpoints along the way. The to anchors caught my eye so we ventured over to the Brother Jonathan Cemetery which is quite non-traditional in its size and organization. They provide a brief history of the final resting place for some of the victims of the shipwreck. Not a lot to see or do on a cold, wet day in may, but it was well worth the stop. wonderful stretch of shoreline an the clouds gave it a somber tone.

If you love history, stop here! I found the history of the area very interesting and you only need 15 minutes to stop. Beautiful views of the ocean and Battery Point Lighthouse. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this little stop. :)

Just a place on the side of the road. Nothing fantastic grass and a marker. We stopped for only a little bit.

The cemetary was right next to a house we were staying at. The views are awesome. The history of the area was interesting. Not a place to spend a lot of time, but very scenic.

Bring your binoculars and a cup of coffee and watch pods of whales retiring north for the season. March and April are the best months for catching the returning migration. Usually on the weekends there are Park Rangers to help spot the whales!
