    车一定要有天窗,或者敞篷,经过这一片树林两边都是齐天的红杉,清晨或者下午,薄雾浮起,像童话里的魔幻森林一样,景色很漂亮

If anyone can see these massive trees and not believe in a creator is truly unbelievable. What an awe inspiring earth our God has created. I am so thankful that the real beauty of this earth was a gift, undeserved.

This road is dirt and narrow, but not a bad road. The best part was the lack of other vehicles to disturb the peacefulness. You can drive and drive and never get tired of looking at the old and massive trees. But be sure to stop driving frequently and hike a little to explore and fully appreciate the atmosphere. Highly recommended adventure for anyone.

Took this road coming into Crescent City to get the scenic route as opposed to finishing our journey on 199. So happy we did. The road is unpaved, but the dirt is nice and compact which made it easy to drive with the exception of some pot holes. Lots of places to pull over and enjoy the scenery or trails. The main attraction is Stouts Grove. Amazing place and worth the detour.

Howland Hill Road is a mostly unpaved road that stretches through the heart of Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park, up close to some of the biggest and oldest coastal redwoods, in an environment that has changed little in centuries, if not millennia, as many of the trees here are over 1000 years old. While the 5.5 miles (8.9k) of Howland Hill Road within the state park are dirt, narrow and not suitable for RV’s or trailers, it is in good condition with many places to pull over to let vehicles pass; however, most travel the road from the south near Crescent City to the north near Hiouchi, greatly reducing the number of oncoming vehicles. We drove many of the scenic redwood drives and this is certainly the most intimate drive through a redwood forest backcountry with massive trees, dwarfing vehicles, right next to the road. Be sure to pull over, stop and get out at one of the many pullouts to get a better look at this dense redwood forest with a minimal amount of understory trees to obscure the view. Howland Hill Road also provides access to several trails, including the well known Boy Scout Tree Trail, and to the excellent Stout Grove, well worth a visit and a walk around the easy 0.6 mile (0.8k) loop trail.

This road goes through one of the best old growth redwood forests, Stout Grove. It's a narrow, dirt road, so plan to take your time.

The road is long. It looks like a reagular street to travel down. I did like the cassino we drove by, and also this road leads straight into Stout Grove.

The road is unpaved but well maintained so it is not a dangerous drive. Take your time to see all the beautiful scenery. The road winds through a lot of old growth and some impressive stumps. It is a beautiful drive but because of it being narrow can not handle RVs or large vehicles. This is a beautiful drive and stop often to take pictures.

One of the coolest dirt roads in the world in my opinion. Take it slow and simply enjoy the massive Redwood trees surrounding you. Well worth it to pull over to get out and snap some photos. It's a really, really cool road and well worth the detour. Also makes a very cool back way into Crescent City from the north if you're coming down Hwy 199. Road can get kind of muddy in the winter but it's still passable by passenger cars. Just take it slow and enjoy the fantastic scenery. Many of those trees are over a 1000 years old and they're likely to outlast you so it can be a very humbling place too.

This road is an adventure and is actually very easy to drive. But be prepared for narrow roads and outstanding beauty. You feel like you are in some sort of mythical place.

Howland HIll is how you get to Stout Grove. Nice to do this without seasonal traffic. Bumpy. NO large vehicles! Single lane with turnouts. We had a full size pick up and did fine, but there were only 2 others cars we saw during our day.

Trees and more trees. Boy scout tree hike. Take your time, just do it, best thing in town to do. Give some space to not be rushed on the road or trail it's very peaceful

This is an unpaved rough and bumpy ride but it's a great way to see the giants from your car. Take the road but be prepared for a narrow trail and a rough ride.

The road has great views of the redwoods. The road itself is small and winding, but worth the drive. DON'T take a large vehicle on this road!

We did almost every drive you can take through the Redwoods of Northern California and this is perhaps the best drive there is. You are surrounded by trees clinging next to a dirt road that at times winds itself around the tress themselves. We got our a couple of time to take pictures and short walks throughout the state park. This is a must-do if you are staying in Crescent City. We picked up the road on the southern end of the Park. Stout Grove is a must-stop and easy walking trial around some of the old-growth trees. Worth every bit of time, takes about 45 minutes if you are just driving and not stopping.
