good place for a walk or jogging if you want to stay in shape :) there are a lot of restaurants there, thing that make you confused which one to choose. i don't remember in which day farmer market is organized there.

Lighthearted decorations on the square itself, good eats abound, and a pleasant place to be: gentrification brings ambiance and ups the land value, that's for sure!

We spent a lovely morning having brunch and visiting a pair of Clipper Ships in Jack London Square. A lovely little Farmer's Market provided an excellent stroll, and a light snack. The light crowd was pleasant and friendly.

Had to park far away, but the food, service and seating by the fireworks display made up for it. Me and wife enjoyed the adventure.

This is a location in Oakland at the foot of Broadway. It has been developed into a location for restaurants and theater. There are fine dining places as well as family locations. It is having a resurgence of activity lately with the opening of a bowling alley/bocce ball/cafe in the former Barnes & Noble bookstore. This is where the Potomac presidental yacht is docked as well as the cabin that had once belonged to author Jack London. There is a farmer's market on Sundays and special events such as boat shows, foodie events, art shows and street musicians. There is an increased night life there with the several new eateries.

Fenton's has been on our family's outing agenda for over 50 years - In addition to the huge and delicious sundaes, the place overflows with nostalgic memories - My children, who are in their40's now practically grew up there, and we all still go - Just can't pull us away from this great ice cream shop! I can't answer the "when did you visit question" - There isn't room or options enough - I have been there probably 100 times -

Jack London Square is a multi block Oakland Waterfront which has very gorgeous. It has Restaurants with outdoor seatings, Ferry Terminals to ferry to the SFCity or to Alameda. It is a great place to stroll around after your meal with a beutiful afternoon sunset.

Great potential but few want to go to Oakland with its large thug population and a police force that wants to do its job but is hamstrung by ditzy feel-good airheads running the place. Too bad- could be world class...

The farmers market is adorable! Variety of restaurants, open spaces, fair winds all recommend this pleasant and colorful scenic local. skc

Jack London Square is ringed by a large number of restaurants, with many having outdoor seating. So for a romantic or family outing, it is a great place to visit. You can spend as much or as little as you want. When we visited there were food trucks to very high end restaurants. We ate at Scott's Seafood restaurant, since it was a romantic outing, and it was well worth the price. If you have not visited, or not visited in a while, you should try it on a sunny day.

Jack London Square (JLS) is a multi-block area on the Oakland waterfront featuring one hotel (Waterfront), a few shops, and many restaurants. There are boat docks and a ferry terminal to Alameda Island and San Francisco (Ferry Terminal and Pier 39). The ferry ride across the bay and under the Bay Bridge is inexpensive and delightful, offering a real feel of the bay lifestyle. JLS restaurants are mostly pricey for what they offer food-wise and most are in the 3-3.5 star category, despite their upscale appearance and waterfront views. There are exceptions, but not many.JLS honors the early 20th century writer, whose bronze image appears in the square. There's also a slant-floor tiny bar from olden times.JLS is a great place to stroll around and enjoy the harbor views. And there is easy access from city busses and Amtrak.

Quite a decision to make where you want to eat as they all looked inviting. Also other shops and interesting cabin & facts on Jack London himself

Great place to grab a beer, dinner or a movie. I also like watching boats pass by or take a walk along the Bay. Stick to the busy areas at night, it can still get sketchy at times.

Some good restaurants and shops, but has a way to go before it could be called a destination. Not much there and usually has some type of activity that one does not want to see.

Jacklondon Square has it all. Fine hotels, restaurants, wine shops, a kayak shop where you can rent boat, and a bike shop to rent bikes. You can walk, you can dance to musicians in the square. Enjoy the Farmers Market. Take a ride on FDR's historic watch, take a ferry to the city. If you can't have a good time here , you are not trying.
