On a trip to Las Vegas and the surrounding area for my best friend's 50th birthday, we drove up to see Death Valley, stayed at the Furnace Creek Ranch (see separate review) and took the opportunity to get in a round of golf at the hottest, lowest golf course in the world! The course is pretty good and well-maintained (especailly as there's not much water out there!). We played at about 7.30am, when it was still cool enough to be enjoyable. Interesting 'hazards' were a family of coyotes on the first 6 holes. If you're from the UK, they're about the size of a fox and just trot away well before you get anywhere near them - so nothing to worry about! The best thing about the course though is the backdrop - fairly lush green trees, contrasting the desert & mountains - superb! Note - we tried to book in advance from the UK and found it difficult, but there was plenty of availability when we arrived. I don't recall exactly how much we paid, but the charge for 2 rounds, clubs & buggy hire felt ok at the time. If you're there and you like golf, why not?

We stayed in the inn at furnace creek and had the golf break of two rounds at this course. It was excellent when considering the location the course was in great condition. Nice wide fairways not too many hazards reasonable greens. We did see coyotes chasing the wildlife! Pro shop very helpful, in need you can hire clubs. Remember to take plenty of water with you as there is none on the course, but there are restrooms on the course. The scenery is outstanding. Well worth adding to your visit to Death Valley.

Course can only be played from 6:30am to 2:00pm during summer season. Breathtaking views and a course in very good condition which is surprising given the golf is in the middle of Death Valley. Green fee is more than affordable and definitely worth it. We played the course in the early morning and were lucky to see some wildlife.

Just being in the middle of Death Vally makes this course unique. It is a lot of fun and can be quite a challenge on certain holes if you play from the back tees. It is in great shape and the layout (especially on the front nine) has been shaped and contoured to add interest. The desert back drop is breath taking. You need to carry a lot of water with you as there is no potable water on the course. I also found the green fees reasonable given the quality of the course, the remote location and the fact that it is a tourist destination.

This is a fairly standard American golf course. We played at start of April and it was in pretty good condition. The greens could have been better but it is a course in the middle of nowhere. It is great for the novelty of playing well below sea level. I noticed no difference in distance to ball travelled. It is good value for money if you get the twilight rate (5 hours before sundown).

Huge amounts of water are needed to keep this golf course going, and they do a fantastic job too. I was surprised by the quality of the fairways and greens, and overall it was a very enjoyable round. I can also say I've played the 'lowest' golf course in the world, which is just great!

Golfing is always great. Golfing 286 feet below sea level is something to talk about! This is a very good golf course. It doesn't get 5 stars because it's only a nine hole that you play twice for 18!. But the scenery is outstanding. In fact it makes your game longer because of the many times you just stop and look at the hills and the wild life. Speaking of wild life, don't be afraid of the coyotes. This their playground and we are just playing through! We actually had to coax off one lazy coyote laying on a tee so we could play. She came right back after we left! Be sure to play if you golf, otherwise you can't say "I played 286 feet below sea level" !!

On a whim we checked in at the pro shop to see if we could get on for 9 holes late in the day. No problem and the price was very fair. The course is fairly basic, but still has interesting holes. Trouble comes from trees which line several holes, some sand traps (they have enough sand in the valley for more), and surprisingly water hazards. We were surprised to find several spots of mud on the course, but then realized they have to keep the course wet to even have a course. We learned there's more water in Death Valley than we thought. If the weather is playable it certainly would be worth the time to play the lowest golf course in the world.

flat, fairly open and very easy course suitable for all ages and all levels of play, just hit them straight

Just finished playing in a 3 day scramble event for the thrid year in a row. Course was in its best shape of the three. You can tell the staff really worked on it this fall. Greens rolled nicely. Fariways were in great shape as was the rough. Course has some interesting holes considering the topography is flat and in a limited space. Don't judge the course by the small practice green or the sparse driving range. We saw plenty of coyotes and road runners on all days. You cannot beat the views looking down fairways with the massive rock mountains in the backgroound.

Played a golf tournament in the middle of the summer at the hottest place in the US. The course is very nice and green and very challenging. Temperature hit 118 during the afternoon and at 200+ feet below sea level, the ball does not go as far as you would like. The pool at the hotel was a welcome attraction!

Played 9 holes (back nine) early morning which I thoroughly enjoyed, taking into account temp was already 38C at 0700. Compliments to green keepers as course was in great condition taking into account harsh conditions that exist in the valley at this time of year. Great service at Pro Shop as was easy and uncomplicated to rent set of clubs to play. Next time will plan more time to play full course.

The lowest golf course in the world - and the smallest pro shop and shuttiest bar/restaurant. Marginally interesting to those who do not play golf, riveting to those who do.It's so lush and green. For a moment it's easy to forget exactly where you are.

The golf course at Furnace Creek looks like an Oasis in the desert. Didn't golf there, but would like to.

We had extra time at Death Valley, so we signed up for an early tee time. The course was good, but not great. However, playing in Death Valley was really lots of fun. The course is in an oasis, and the views are great. Playing in the morning was enjoyable, since we could enjoy the day w/o getting overheated!
