This small museum, is a perfect rest stop before you travel farther into the Sequoia National Park to see the Giant Forest. It will give you a great perspective on why the trees grow so well, how fire helps keep the forest healthy, and what we can do to help keep the forest. The gift shop is well stocked with some fun souvenirs. *tip* Just be sure to manage your expectations, as this is a FREE museum; it is short experience.

Park your car, get out and stretch your legs before you go on. All the info in the world, friendly Rangers too. Nice gifts if that's what you're into.

Helpful, knowledgeable rangers, good displays. We liked the display of the relative heights of the great trees and other things we think of as tall. And 91,000 sequoia seeds=1 lb.

I guess I was expecting more from this museum. Spent about 20 minutes here but probably would not stop on a return visit. Restroom extremely crowded too.

We learned a lot about the giant sequoias and the forest they make up in the museum. The Sentinel tree stands out front, towering over the building. There are some interesting facts along the sidewalk, and a measuring gauge that helps a person put the height into perspective. Worth the visit.

This museum is dedicated to the forest, and everyone should stop. It is amazing that the size of the seed that this giant tree grows from is about the size of a sunflower seed! They have other pinecone seeds, and this is probably the smallest of them all and produces the largest tree!

Great, fun little museum, has a cool exhibit on the preservation of the park, another showing how large the Sequoias really are compared to other large objects. No complaints - worth seeing!

Small, easy to visit museum. Learned lots of little facts and info some of which is also available on hikes around the park. I loved the diorama showing the size of different things - can't believe the trees are taller than the Statue of Liberty! Great visual.Worth stopping and enjoying. Also the place you sign up for Crystal Cave tours. Get there early if you want to go to the cave.

For someone that has not been to the park and has no idea what the difference is between a redwood, a pine, a spruce, or a sequioa is, this is the museum that explains it all and gives an introduction of why giant forest is no longer the hub of activity it was a mere twenty years ago.

The museum is free and displays a lot of information about the park and the trees a relatively compact space. One must spend at least 10-15 minutes here.

Beetle Rock is a few hundred yards off the parking lot across the street from the museum. It's a granite dome with 270-degree spectacular views of the surrounding valley and distant mountains. Don't miss this 5 minute walk from the museum.

The rangers at the Giant Forest Museum were very helping in planning nearby hikes. They were always pleasant to talk to and eager to lend a hand. If they did not know an answer they would find someone who did. Online searching is a great way to prepare prior to arriving but I would definitely recommend stopping to chat with a ranger just to verify your plans. They can provide the most up-to-date information and may also suggest alternatives that you did not consider. I really appreciate all of their help!
