626 night market

A huge gathering of eclectic foods, served in booth/carnival format.lots of Asian dishes, some great fusion foods (duck tacos from Phantom Food Truck), musubi a (handmade rice balls), watermelon & other fresh fruit drinks, as well as the "normal" food trucks, like the Grilled Cheese truck, Lobsta truck, Paradise ice cream sandwiches, and more. This us a foodie paradise! Lots of young, upscale Asian kids, but everyone is polite & most anxious to share their new found treats! Try it next summer...only happens in the summer months, but the OC has on at the fairgrounds in late October...too much fun!

After attending night markets in Asia I was anxious to see what Southern California could produce. Great variety of food. Some street dancing. And some decent clothes/trinkets. No where close to Bangkok but a good attempt. Go early as it got VERY crowded after 9. The other problem is due to the crowds and the darkness it was hard to see a stroller or wheelchair in the midst. An enjoyable evening none the less.

Lots of booths offering Asian fare - ramen, bbq, fried noodles, sushi, etc. And if that's not enough there's also food trucks all around. An excellent venue to try different and new Asian creations like the ramen burger, stinky tofu and exploding fish balls to name a few. They open at 4:00 and try to arrive early, this event has become so popular over the last couple of years that it gets really crowded by 7:00 and the food lines can be very long with long wait times for your order. Go hungry and have fun trying something you haven't had before.

For anyone who has ever been to a night market in Asian, this is the closest you will get. Great selection of ethnic food from bizzare to unique and innovative. Most items are nicely priced. Depending on what vendors are there I would suggest lamp skewers, oyster pancake, and of course the famous stinky tofu. If you want to sample all types if Asian food under one sky, then this is it. Plus it's fun to gawk at what everyone's eating.

We enjoyed the many choices available and braved the relatively short lines present for the more popular items. Having arrived around 4:30 p.m. we were happy that we chose the heat over the crowds that we saw on leaving an hour and a half later, by which time the short lines had morphed into very long lines. This is a good late afternoon market, but for a night market go to Taiwan.

I love food events especially when it involves food trucks and plenty of Asian food. I tried a little bit of everything. Some things were absolutely amazing and others were just mediocre. The idea is also fabulous, trying to imitate the night markets of Asia. Unlike the night markets in Asia, this place has the best food from all over the East. Where else can you try banh mi, sushi, and curry tacos in one sitting? Definitely worth the 2 dollar entrance fee.

It was fun but it's so crowded. Even past 10PM. Even though the market is open til 1AM, most tents/carts/trucks start closing early at midnight. All in all, not all the food is good. So you never really know what you're going to get. But it's something different, so why not. There are DJs playing and there's a dance floor. Some ppl dance but not many.

When I saw the parking lot early in the evening, I should have known what to expect. The event is held at the Santa Anota racetrack. Getting to the parking lot involves fighting massive traffic lines, but the parking itself is free. Entrance fee is $2 before 6pm and $3 afterwards, The event is bustling, colorful and culturally interesting. You will find dozens and dozens of food stalls with all sorts of interesting items. The items themselves are a little overpriced. My complaint (being an old guy) was the crowds. Young people seemed to be really enjoying themselves. I , myself, will probably not go back, but it would be a great experience for the right person.
