On our way to Fargo, North Dakota from Winnipeg we saw it but didn't think to stop. Fortunately, on our way back to Winnipeg we had to stop for gas and decided to stop in. It's a small museum but the exhibits are well worth a look. There is everything from fossils to native history to the story of settlers and more. There is a tower accessed by elevator that gives a great view over the flat farm fields that can be scene for miles. There is also the opportunity to compare the view with photos of one of the many floods that left the village of Pembina completely encircled by water.Perhaps the best part of the entire experience is the two women who operate the museum. We chatted for about 30 - 45 minutes and it was well work the time. They are quite gracious with their time and information. We thoroughly enjoyed the time they were willing to spend with us.Don't miss this museum!! There is no cost to visit the museum unless you want to go to the observation deck ... $2.00 per person.

Small but well-appointed museum with traveling exhibits in addition to the static exhibits. Has an observation tower you reach by elevator or stairway where you can see into Canada!

Stopping by the US-Canada border crossing at Pembina, North Dakota, is usually reserved for a gas fill-up or duty free shopping, but just beyond the little gas/shop stop is a delightful little museum, the Pembina State Museum. The impressive building features an observation tower offering a fantastic view of the countryside, gallery exhibits showing the 6,000 year history of the area, rotating displays and a gift shop/tourist information centre. Well worth a stop.

Large equipment, such as cars, tractors and even old 'school buses' the kids would ride in behind their horses in the snow were well displayed. Some older buildings and a church were available for viewing, along with a railroad station and waiting room. I enjoyed my visit there.

Just a small place but interesting for it's unique look at the specifics of the area. And the view - There's nothing else that high on the prairie landscape with such an interrupted vista!

This is a neat little museum. You start at the Crustacean period , through the fur trade, through the first setllers, through modern times in the gallery. The displays are easy to understand, and even I learned something! There is a 7-story viewing tower that gives a nice view of the surrounding area, including the US/Canadian border. The museum is free, but there is a small fee to use the elevator in the tower. I don't think too many people visit due to the remote location. If you are staying in Grand Forks or in northeastern ND, and have a few hours to spare, it is a nice little day trip.

The gas station across the street RIPS YOU OFF on currency exchange!!!! Wait until you get on the Canadian side, they won't rip you off on false exchange rates. This gas staion will on both the coming and going into the US. Don't spend a dime in this town, it's a trap to rip you off!!

We spent 20 minutes wandering the galleries on a day when persistent rain prevented us from doing outdoor things. The quality is the exhibits is impressive, and there are some very nice artifacts displayed.
