There is actually the North Fork and the South Fork Toutle Rivers. The North Fork, can be seen along the drive via the west entrance and is also where the lava fields are located. About midway of this drive (around Toutle) is another visitor center where if you walk on the paved path in back one can get excellent views in both directions of the lava fields along this river. The path is conducive for wheelchairs.
