We used to only go once a summer as it cost $100+ to get a family of 6 in for the day. They started selling season passes at a discount in the winter which made it more affordable. My kids spend more time playing in the pool than actually sliding the slides but they have fun. I like to just lounge and read while they play. Food is silly expensive and not very good. OK pizza can be purchased and brought in. You can bring your own food but you can't bring in large coolers. They will stamp your hand so you can go out and come back in.

We make the Birchbay water slides about once a year. It is often a birthday destination for my daughters birthday August first. The weather at Birch Bay can be hit or miss. The good news on a cooler day there are less people and you can really hit the slides. If you get cold you can warm up in the hot tubs. All the slides are a good time. The black drop is the higest part of the tower off to the side. It is not for the faint of heart or children less than 12. If you don't follow instructions and clench your butt cheeks you will get an enema. Also people who flail often loose there tops and get cuts. You drop about 60ft at a 60degree angle and hit the water going fast. The first couple times I go every year I am scared and wonder if I am going to fly out.You can buy Pizzas for lunch right there. We haven't really used the rest of the snackbar that is there because we always order pizza.Slides are a good time. Lots of space to spread out on the lawns. This is a family friendly space.

We took our kids on a nice summer day, ages 9, 10 and 12. If you read all the reviews, they are correct. This is not Disneyland but a great local place with few line ups and it's big enough for this age group to have a day of fun! They have your typical fare for food and drinks. If you want to just watch you kids, you get a bit of discount, I think $10, remember to ask, they will give you a different wrist band.

We visited Birch Bay Waterslides in August 2014 and all the kids with me (14, 13, 11, 8) enjoyed it very much. There are 4 slides on one hill, a separate area with a raft slide and short body slide, and a third area with the kiddie pools and slides and the Black Hole tower slides. We had also visited theme parks in california, and this park seems so low key and uncrowded in comparison, although we visited on a Friday. My youngest two had never been to a water park and they picked it up quite quickly, and said it equalled or exceeded the theme parks in California -- they went on slides many many many times and that was one of this parks strengths . . .PROS: Slides are mostly in one area. After the kids are acclimated it is easy to find a place to observe/read and watch while they have fun and get wet (only if the kids are old enough/responsible enough of course). There are some tables and areas with shade and PLENTY of chairs although most are in the sun. All the slides are fun, and even the blacked out one (the Black Hole) isn't too scary. My 8 year old was a little nervous but after a couple trips on each slide decided that he could manage by himself. Park allows outside food and drink, at least as of August 2014, which is a blessing. Lockers are available, and only cost $3 to rent for the day. Climbing stairs gives everyone lots of good exercise in between sliding down (and gorgeous views of Birch Bay from the platforms). In the morning there were practically no lines, and even after noon the lines were minimal and moved quite quickly. Lots of opportunity to repeat favorite slides. Basic upkeep seemed fine - they were trimming blackberries along fencelines, and grass was mowed and all basic safety precautions seemed to be taken. In the pools at the bottom of the slides there were always lifeguards with floatation devices and they were alert and aware of what was going on. CONS: It doesn't have the gloss and sparkle of many larger parks. The employees are just teenagers doing their jobs and may or may not be outgoing, paint is worn, and lots of cost cutting seems to be the main theme. Paint was worn on the cinderblock buildings, bathrooms could have used several cleanings in the middle of a busy Friday. There was a yellow jacket bee nest in one slide and when my kids commented on it to one of the staff they said there was no money to take care of it (which may be the staff persons error, but doesn't speak well for the company that they would say that). Some of the slides have pools which are hard to navigate without getting out of the raft, which you aren't supposed to do. The black hole slide requires a staff person to manually push start you, which seems like a lot of work for them. All of the slides have long stairways, so there aren't many if any options for those who cannot handle stairs. TIPS: Go at opening. The water is heated and it was 73 when we arrived, and no one was cold. We were ready to leave by 3, when a lot of people come to get the reduced entrance fee and lines were longer. If you come at opening you can also pile your stuff on one of the tables with an umbrella which is nice in the hot afternoons. Bring water as they ran out of botted water at the concession stand, and bring lunch unless you want to order a pizza from their restaurant. Sunblock is a necessity as there is very little shade. We will go to this park again! It was a great place to enjoy a water adventure and it was cheap enough to make the lack of frills and sometimes unimpressive staff/upkeep not an issue. My kids were thrilled and loved it. I don't think they even noticed that the frills were missing! :)

Though not huge, nor fancy...this water park had enough various slides to entertain all ages. The staff were helpful, the area clean. We felt we got good value for the entry feel

We had a great time and decided we will make it a yearly event. I took my son and four grandkids. There were plenty of places for me to sit (sun or shade). The lines for snacks were short. Plenty of picnic tables around. A giant hot tub made my day and lots of kids smiles. Everyone loved it. I also loved the fact that the park is not too spread out. The walking is limited and you don't have any steep slopes except for the steps to go on a slide.

Went to the slides with my daughters school, the whole park was just elementary age children. One of the lifegaurds was putting the kids down backwards (which is not supposed to be allowed) and he was teasing a young boy. My daughter stood up for the child and when she told him he would get in trouble he called her stupid. The manager was notified of the situation yet I never saw him come speak to this worker. This situation made it so that little boy would not go down the slide that worker was running so he could not fully enjoy himself. The other workers were responsible and kind to the children. The consession stand is expensive and poor quality. I got nachos paid 4.00 there was barely any cheese and stale chips. We will probably not be going back anytime soon.

I don't do crowds...so I can't comment on how the Birch Bay Waterslides are during busy days. We visited a few times this past summer and my daughter was a lifeguard. My teens spend quite a bit of time in the hot tub, but my 8 year old adored the slides and did them over and over and over! It is an easy to navigate park, easy to park, and they do have a "watcher" option for those of us stuck just watching and not participating. Lots of lounge areas, some covered. We've done cold rainy days there too and it was almost more fun as no one was there!

We go every year. We love it. Hardly any lines and relaxing. It's a simple water park but has slides for all ages.

Fun on a warm day, as the water is not heated. Large groups can reserve a covered picnic space, otherwise it's all open. There is a large hot tub which is very popular when the weather is cool. The facility has been reconfigured so that the adjacent pizza place can be accessed without going outside the water park. There are shallow pools and small slides for tots, so all ages can take part. Lines can be quite long for the more popular slides--naturally weekends are busier.

We spent an entire day here, and would highly recommend it as a fun family mini-vacation. They allow you to take your own food (not in a cooler) but offer food for purchase as well. The waterslides are supervised by certified attendants. I felt safe letting my two grandchildren aged 12 and 10 "have the run of the place."

Fun and the lines if any are short! There is plenty of parking, a pizza place close by and take your own food in too.

This was my first trip there and I wasn't too impressed. I was honestly expecting more options on the amount of waterslides that were open. They had the biggest one closed (the one that the Grandson wanted to try) so he had to 'settle' for the remaining 5 slides open. The food was cold (Chicken and Corn Dog Meals) and the kitchen had just opened when I placed my order...yuck! The price for both entry and food was too high. It took a long time to get into the park since they only had one employee at the ticket office for all purchases at opening hour. That was not such a good idea on a very HOT day! I don't think it's fair to only get $8 back if you're a 'viewer only' and not using the waterslides or hot tub. So $12 to watch someone else...yikes! I guess those that can't participate should NOT go and send the kids with someone else.

This was our first time to this park. I found the viewer only price to be really high ($11.95). While all of the pools and slides did appear clean and they had plenty of lifeguards on duty, there were problems. I do not know if it had do with the weather, which was overcast and around 65 degrees F, however the pool and the hot tub were not very warm. My daughter and her friends tried to swim in the pool and said it was way to cold, they then went over to the hot tub and said and it was not much warmer. On a final note, after an hour or so of sliding, two of our group were injured on the twisty black slide. They "fell out of" the innertube and one of them banged her ankle really hard and the other hit her head. I will say the first aid was very good and attentive, however as we were getting ready to leave, the medics were called for another injury on another slide. Maybe this was just a fluke, but 3 injuries in an hour does not make me super excited to come back.
