After not visiting this place in over 8 years, I was extremely disappointed. The place has not been cared for at all. This place is a gem but it looks like no one is caring for it. The bath and wrap was still a treat but the tubs are old and need replacing!! The entire bathhouse looks like it it's rusting. Its SO sad!! There is a hole in the ceiling covered by a towel tacked up. Really? The new sauna is lovely though. The massages aren't as good as they used to be either. Not happy and sad that I probably won't ever return. I used to frequent this place in my 20's and now--no way is it worth the drive or money. Someone needs to sink some money into it and fix it up. New tubs, patchwork and perhaps fix the hotel. It could be such a great spiritual retreat. So sad.

This is one of our favorite off beaten path spots. A bit rustic (built in 19-th century), but it adds a certain spice to it. BUT the best thing is the water. If you tried other hot springs - you will know the difference. In men's section you can take contrast soaks - they keep one tub filled with ice cold water. Once you get hot and cant stay in water any more - you are wrapped in sheets and blankets and just sweat profusely for another 1/2 hour while your mind is wondering in nirvana.

Carson Hot Spring has not changed in the 20+ years I've lived in the Gorge. It's still a somewhat rustic facility, which appeals to me. I go for the mineral water soak, friendly staff, and pure relaxation. On weekdays one can relax with a long soak and wrap for $20, with dry sauna and massage also available on site. Although there are now new hotel units and a golf course nearby, the old spa and original hotel remain nearly unchanged. Enjoy this historical spa.

There's nothing fancy about Carson Hot Springs Spa, but at half the price of Bonneville Hot Springs further down the Gorge, it is clean and relaxing. Mineral bath and hot wrap are available for about $23, and last at least an hour (more if the attendant is busy or not paying attention :)) Not slamming Bonneville in any way, but it is a fancier and more robust experience. Each has its place, and I've enjoyed both.

First thing you have to know about Carson Hot Springs! It's not a high priced spiffy modern spa experience. Fortunately! I'm so glad it's not! This place has history! It's a mix of old and new. They have the old hotel (now the administrative office) and the old bathhouse where all the action takes place. It's like going back in time! There's also the new additions of the hotel, rooms, etc.No TV's, phones, all that jazz........if you want all that go somewhere else. This isn't for you.BUT! The hot springs bath was amazing! Oh my gosh......so relaxing in the large 1880's giant tub. I was swallowed up by the steamy hot water. I got out looking like a lobster! The bath attendants were excellent in both the men's and women's sections. A hat tip to Jeremy, who was taking care of the guys. He was great! My girlfriend was just as pleased with the customer care in the women's bath house. The massages......okay, this is my "box of chocolates" speech.....Some of the massage therapists are very good and some not so good. I don't know the rhyme or reason. My girlfriend had an excellent 50 minute massage! She struck it rich.I wasn't so lucky......My therapist was heard complaining about how much her hands hurt and she was happy to go home "after this next guy." I was really hoping I wasn't that "next guy," but I was. The massage was a lackluster effort on her part. She was going through the motions and my 50 minutes massage ended after 43 minutes. Not so good.My overall experience was good. If I would have received even an average massage it would have been outstanding. Can't have everything I guess.I still think we got what we paid for.Love the vibe here......

A friend and I came for an afternoon bath and wrap. It was quiet and relaxing on a gray rainy day. The place has an old rustic charm. If you want a spa atmosphere you probably should go to Stevenson and spend more money.

I do not usually write reviews. I especially avoid placing negative reviews but this experience and subsequent non-response by the owners was so upsetting to us it feels like a responsibility to warn others. Prior to this writing we did provide in person feedback to the staff at the spa who were quite non responsive. On 9/1/13 we e-mailed a written description of the experience & requested a refund. The spa responded that the matter must be take up with B.H.S. So on 9/1/13 we forwarded the e-mail describing our experience to B.H.S and requested a refund of the cost of my husband's soak/massage/wrap but there has been no response whatsoever to our request. They have given us no recourse but to share our experience here to warn others. On 8/31/13 my husband and I went to the hot springs for a spa experience: massage/ soak/wrap cost: $90.00 per person. On arrival we were "welcomed" quite rudely by a woman with a very abrupt manner who told us our appointment was not at the time we had confirmed by telephone and then made to wait for 45 minutes. No apology was given and no accommodation made for the wait time. We sat on a bench outside, because the inside reception area is very dreary. This part of the experience was uncomfortable and surprising but not enough to warrant a poor review. What happened next was very upsetting to my husband though to be fair I must note that my massage/ soak/wrap experience was ok. My husband had a terrible experience with one of the employees who did not respect his privacy and left my husband feeling so violated he chose to cut his experience short and wait for me in the car. During the time he was waiting he reported the experience and his unhappiness to the person at the reception desk who was non responsive. On arriving home we decided to put the request in writing and request a refund for the cost of his soak/massage/wrap. We sent an email request describing the experience and requested a refund. The spa responded stating the message needed to go to B.H.S. which we did and again as I stated previously...to date (10/6/13) no response or accommodation has been made. So be forewarned...this is not a place that cares for feedback or makes any attempt to provide a comfortable experience for guests. This has been one of the worst experience we have ever had in any of our travels in or out of the USA including our very 'rustic' travel experiences in Peru.
