If you've been to the Long Beach / Ilwaco area and have been to some of the local gift shops, you will undoubtedly have seen some of Don Nisbett's handiwork for sale. He's known for his caricatures of crab in any number of poses, both with and without wine bottles. However, if you end up going into his gallery in the marina part of Ilwaco you will see that his talents go far beyond the crusty crustaceans.The Nisbett Art Gallery is definitely a treasure of the area, and way too much time can be enjoyed checking out the hundreds of originals, prints, and other merchandise in his shop. If you want to commission some work (wanna be a mermaid?), Don is frequently there in the shop to work out the details, or even just to converse with.This gallery should be on the short list of anyone coming to visit the area.

Don is a super nice guy and will love to have your company in his gallery. This is not your stuffy art gallery and the art is also not stuffy....lol....Don's talent is unmatched and his paintings range from local scenes to whimsical but the talent shines no matter the subject! When I was there he was offering chocolate, wine, fun and a story or two.....Several of his paintings grace my walls at home...

Don Nisbett is a highly prolific artist that paints a variety of local scenes as well as humorous and whimsical paintings. Original watercolors and acrylics as well as reproductions and gift items that are all "Made in Ilwaco" right at his studio. Gift items include hand painted glassware as well as magnets, ornaments and cards. Prices start at $5 and up. Like another reviewer said: even if you aren't a typical gallery shopper, you will enjoy this stop. Nisbett also paints custom paintings including boat portraits, beach houses, fantasy mermaid portraits, etc.

Whether you typically enjoy art galleries or not, this is a must-visit destination! We're locals, and on dreary days, there isn't a cheerier place to visit on the Long Beach Peninsula. Don Nisbett is not only a talented artist, but an inspiration--especially to youth. He's also a generous participant in the community, and usually greets his guest with something to eat or drink. His art is excellent, and consists of both serious and humorous pieces. It's a great place to find that perfect gift for someone, as he does custom work at affordable prices.

Don's gallery is just great. From your initial greeting to taking home some amazing art, your experience will be enjoyable. Don is talented and fun and in his assortment of art, you are bound to find something you can't live without.
