little mountain park

A fun place to see the beautiful view of the area. Has a bunch of neat trails for hiking (Kids love the observation walkway that is suppended in the air). Lots of picnic tables for a lunch or a sit down visit.

Limited parking at trail heads but it never seems that crowded. It's a great place to take your dog.

This park/hike is a great walk about. Area is always fun to visit. The views on the mountain top are awesome. The parking at the trail head is small but works. Really like the upkeep that is consistent .

Park is open 10am to dusk, and paved road takes you by one trailhead pullout and a large parking area at the top of the mountain. Some trails are for hikers only, some are multi purpose and well maintained for jogging and mountain bike enjoyment. Trails are well marked but would suggest downloading and carrying a map and chart of individual trail difficulties, which range from easy to difficult. (Can be found at the Mount Vernon Trail Builders website.) Some of the hiker only trails can be steep and you might want a walking stick for some traction. Highlights were the 2 overlooks at the top of the mountain and the rusted out, wrecked 30's era car on the Julieann trail. Locals say the car was used in getaway from a robbery when it crashed. The safe was ejected from the wreck and can be found about 100' down the bank from the car. Parking lot area at the top of mountain has picnic tables and a very basic restroom (pit), no running water.

Super view, lots of birds, nice trails. It's an easy drive to the top and the afternoon we were there we had a great view of the islands.

The park has easy access, just go east on Blackburn. The trails are well maintained. It can be steep in some sections so be prepared to gear down in places. The view at the top from both viewing areas is hard to beat.

I love sharing this very accessible view to all who visit. it is amazing to look out over the skagit valley farms . best viewing is on a clear day!

Little Mountain Park in the edge of Mount Vernon, Washington is easy to get to and full of options for visitors. The spine road winds up the 600 feet of elevation gain and allows you to drive or walk to the top where there are two choices of viewpoints. The viewpoints offer fantastic views of Skagit Valley and on clear days you can see the Olympic Mountains and Mount Baker. My favorite part of the park is the growing network of trails. Mount Vernon Trail Builders, a volunteer trail building group has work parties twice a month and over the last few years have added miles of multi-use and hike only trails. There are kiosks mid mountain, at the top and at the east trailhead that have park information and trail maps to help you navigate the trails. You can also get park information on the City of Mount Vernon's website or Mount Vernon Trail Builders site.The New Nature Trail, from the east trailhead is hard packed and wide, making it suitable for some wheelchairs. Interpretive signage along the trail and a beautiful bridge make this short walk suitable for families with small children as well as people looking for an easy but beautiful walk in the park..Beyond the bridge the more adventurous can travel by linking trails all the way to the top if they like.

This parks offers wonderful vistas across the Skagit Valley, beautiful hiking trails, ample parking and a viewing deck to challenge your fear of heights. Good any time of year.

Went for a drive to scope this place out. It is a nice hidden away park. The drive up the mountain is really well maintained and paved. Was really surprised when we arrived at the top and there was numerous parking spots. Narrow road up the hill and I was afraid I'd have to turn around or back down.The outlook places are really strong and made of metal or heavy wood, so I was not afraid to walk out on either of the two spots. There are picnic tables around and lots of trails to use. The bathroom is a bit old and was not maintained when we were there early in the year. But at least there is a bathroom.Think it is a place to take visitors to show them the Skagit Valley. We went during the tulip time and then could see where the farms were and the colors of the flowers. Really worth the drive up. And it is close by the town.
