This was a wonderful experience as I adhered to the no talking policy and strolled through this earthy and lovely sanctuary. I gave my cash donation at the beginning. I found myself lost in all of the batik, artwork, rock sculptures and wildlife such as frogs, osprey and water fowl in the surrounding ponds. The trails can be muddy in places, so bring some good walking shoes.I was thrilled to encounter the Stonehenge replica as it which enhances the spirituality of the place. I walked away with better balance and an enriching hike through this lush wooded environment in the center of Whidbey Island.

A good friend of mine had his ashes scattered here. This is a meditative, thought provoking location with lots of small "rooms" to contemplate nature or the universe. You must pay though, which seems a little odd for something of this nature, but it is private and they want help maintaining it. Used to be a private hunting reserve. Now open to the public.

Earth Sanctuary is a beautiful, wonderful place to be. It has a sense of sacredness that I really enjoy on land that is preserved for a quiet walk or contemplation. The one turn off, however, is the sign that reads something like, "entry fee is seven dollars, no less- you must pay the seven dollar fee!" Reworded, it might sound more welcoming, as the place itself is a very welcoming space.

Even if you are not a buddhist, you should experience this place: worth a visit if you are on Whidbey Island, or nearby. Take half a day for an exploratory walk through this amazing piece of land, meditate at any of the various places, or just stroll...and get blessed at the Stupa (at East entrance)!

I have been to Earth Sanctuary several times-during each season and over the course of several years. Each time, I see something new, have an inspired experience with nature, and leave feeling like my soul has been rejuvenated. If this appeals to you, make a trip. With the numerous, well-marked trails (and a carry-with-you map available), you can spend half an hour or the entire day walking and enjoying this amazing nature preserve. In addition to the beautiful ecological oasis, one can have reflective, thankful moments at the labyrinth, dolmen, medicine wheel and stone circle. A place to savor, admire and remember for those hectic, "real world" moments.
