This vinyard has a selection of wines that are out of this world. Each one is done by a guest wine makers from all over the world. This was the best wine tasting experience I have ever been on! Can't wait to go back.

This place has intrigued me for some time. the Wineries plan is to use local vineyards to make wines where the Local Winemaker is coupled with a world renown wine expert like Michel Rolland or the Follinari family to develop a single wine each. The result is 7 wines that run the gamut from above average to excellent. The key varietals are Riesling (the only white), Syrah, CA Sauvignon, Sangiovese, and Merlot.The Winery is housed in a modern building on top of a hill (aren't they all?). It has a large room for tasting groups (one group of 10 was there and we came as individuals) . The living room style seats and couches are among Chihuly glassware (like glass replicas of exotic plants). The sit down tasting of fine wines was great in a unique unrushed setting and informative.But we also went on a tour (my wife and I were the group) and went downstairs with one of the local winemakers and tasted 4-5 of the vat wines in various times of fermentation, plus saw how the wine was made and tested. The wines ran from $20 to $60 plus. Tip: Reservations are required. The tasting alone is applied to each bottle of wine purchased. the Tour , including cheeses, etc. is $15 more each person. There is also a tasting room in Woodinville, near Seattle.

Beutiful, beautiful property. The wines were amazing. I bought a bottle that I brought home (3000 miles) that I am going to cellar for 10 years and open when I retire. I can't wait! Must see this vineyard if you are touring in Walla Walla

Take the personalized tour at Longshadows (you have to be a club member). The staff was expert in their wine and the wine making process - and tasting out of the barrels and tanks was informative.

This place seems to have its priorities in the wrong place as far as the tasting program goes. It is an interesting project, contracting winemakers around the world to choose the blend and supervise the winemaking process. Some of the wines are interesting and complex, others are good, and nearly all of them are above $50 (except for the "bargain" riesling at $20).The tasting area is tucked into one corner of the facility and has a nice view of the tank farms. It has gigantic ceilings and lots of hard surfaces, including several Dave Chihuly sculptures. As a result, it gets very loud in there. Between the conversation (even though it was only half full) and the crying babies, it was impossible to hear the people doing the pours. In any case, the facility was out of three of the seven wines in their flight and the pourers were waiting for their management to approve opening up magnums in order to pour. They also rubbed it in a bit, unintentionally I think, when they said that the unavailable wines were their favorite and the winery's best. Despite this, they did not lower the $15 tasting fee (which is the most expensive we've encountered in the area). All in all, it just made for an unpleasant and frustrating experience that the staff did not seem willing or able to address.

You need to call here to ensure they have room, but definitely make it a priority. This winery is a joint project of 8 world-class winemakers who have come together to make a line-up of each person's interpretation of WA wines from some of the best vineyards in the state. Superb riesling, cab, merlot, and syrah-based wines produces by an all-star cast. It's a very sleek, classy tasting room where everyone has their own chair at elegant glass tables, with art glass and great views all around. Be sure to make the time to visit (allow ~90 minutes).

Allen Shoup is the man, whose vision, energy, in-depth knowledge of the wine trade and good understanding of financial engineering led to the creation of Longshadows Vintners, in 2002. He may well be passionate about wines, but his success and many achievements, at Longshadows winery, are, above-all, due to his extensive expertise in brand marketing.Longshadows is not, as such, a winery, It is a collection of ultra premium wineries, which all have, at least, one partner who is a world famed winemaker/consultant. The mission of each winemaker is to add a personal touch to a wine crafted with grapes coming from some of the best vineyards in Washington State.As Longvintners had made a colossal investment in creating a most state-of-the-art winery, we expected to find a jaw dropping futuristic building. We were, therefore, surprised to discover, planted into a hillside, a construction in the shape of a rectangular prism, painted in a cadmium red color, and lacking in both architectural merit and beauty.On the other hand, we were overwhelmingly impressed with the spacious, well-laid out, functional and beautifully furnished tasting room; to call it a lounge would have been more fitting. We liked the large panoramic windows framing the surrounding vineyards, and we were astounded by the splendor of the macchia bowls and chandeliers designed by Chihuly, the world renowned glass sculptor. We then realized that, at Longshadows, tasting room had a different meaning. It was evident that the owners had given considerable thought to the design of their tasting room, in which the traditional bars had no place in it. The basic idea behind this inspiring concept is to offer visitors a very personalized tasting experience, in a comfortable and relaxing environment. After all, there is a marked difference between drinking and tasting wines.From the 2 tasting options available, we selected the 'Inside Story'. It included the tasting of 7 wines, accompanied by tasty cheeses, plus some wine barrel tastings and a tour of the wine making and cellaring facilities. What can we say about the wines? They were all well made, elegant, effortlessly classy and downright enjoyable to drink.. However, we were slightly disappointed because they did not sufficiently typify and personify the intrinsic characters of Washington's State wines.This has not stopped us, on our return home, to source some of these wines for our cellars. Dollar for dollar, they compete favorably with more famous wines from California and beyond, that are ridiculously overpriced.During our visit to the wine making area, we met Gilles Nicault, winemaker in residence, with whom we had a most stimulating discussion. We also wanted to know how he interacted with all his world famed mentors/consultants.Taking all factors into consideration: welcome, personalized tastings, quality of the wines tasted, visit to the wine making and cellar areas, quality of information provided, Longshadows is, without a doubt, the most impressive winery that we had the privilege to visit, during our wine tour, in the Walla Walla area. This is a very unique winery. The concept of bringing together international winemakers from the major regions of the world and letting each one produce wines which showcase their skills by making wines that showcase the areas great viticulture -- brilliant!One of the consistently fun wines is Saggi (meaning "wisdom"). This wine is a blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah and is always fun on the palate.And, when doing a tasting, always end with their Ice Wine. "From the onset, the incredible deep golden color of this gorgeous wine hints at the excellence to come. An explosive bouquet offers an impressive intensity of quince paste and hints of toffee. Delicious salted caramel and ripe pineapple persist across a long, lengthy finish." And, at 95 pts and $85 for a small format bottle, it is dessert in itself.Of the winemakers I've met, I truly enjoy Gilles Nicault, director of winemaking and viticulture since Long Shadows' inception in 2003. He is very approachable and willing to talk about his craft.The facility is beautiful with state-of-the-art winery and elegant tasting rooms. They're off the beaten path when you visit Walla Walla, but well worth visiting. You need to make a reservation for wine tasting, so make arrangements ahead of time. During Release Weekends, they usually serve a nice array of appetizers and live music.

Appointments required at this winery enhanced the experience. Visitors get their own private tasting which includes cheese and charcuterie that perfectly pair with the artisanal wines crafted by some of the world renowned winemakers. Each bottle was special in it's own right but the collection together is unparalleled.

Not impressed. Waited 30 minutes to be seated even though we were the only ones there. Hospitality was poor. Staff was robotic. Wines were over rated. Bought a couple cheap Rieslings. Those were nice. Got one merlot but only to save the tasting fee.

When you visit a winery with the reputation of something along the lines of Longshadows you can sometimes have a very stuffy and snotty atmosphere ! Not so at Longshadows !The winery it's self is very well done in a classy but comfortable setting, the hostess that greets and sits you is wonderful and mike who is the host is very friendly and outgoing.The wines were good with the notes provide with tasting its was easy to look at what each wine was looking at.A super tasting great room , at 15$ a bargain ,Thanks again mike

We didn't have an appt however we dropped by to see if we could get in. Luckily one group was leaving and there was another group coming a bit later. Michael fit the 4 of us in and treated us very well. Very knowledgable and fun. The facility is gorgeous and the wines, from 6 different small wineries were unusual and excellent. We all agreed it was the best overall experience in Walla Walla. Thanks to Michael!!

Zanterns overview is spot on. We went on a Friday night to watch the sunset (your not in a vineyard)when they had live music. Music was nice and wine even nicer. Check the website for Friday night schedule. We didn't need a reservation and it was a perfect way to end the day (was pre dinner for us). We got to taste all the wines or you could buy a full glass pour and even a bottle to enjoy with the music. They also had hugh Panini's for $10......share one they are so big. We but the Feather wine ever year and enjoy thru the year.

I had been dreaming of going to Long Shadows for years and finally had my chance last week. We decided on a spur of the moment trip to Walla Walla and when we drove past the Long Shadows tasting room sign I made my husband stop and go back. It was late afternoon and we didn't have a reservation but Rachael kindly welcomed us and escorted us into the tasting room. I didn't realize that there would be no tasting bar. The room is much more European with seating areas. With two other couples there Rachael managed to pour, explain, answer questions, bring water and crackers efficiently and warmly. This is not the place to go for a quick taste but then why would you go to Long Shadows to do that. The wines are so amazing and complex that you really just want to linger with each one. The whole experience lived up to what I had dreamed. I would definitely go back.

Longshadows is one of the truly fine wine cellars in Washington State. Walking into the elegant tasting room surrounded by Chihully glass art you quickly realize this isn't a typical wine tasting stop. The views from the large windows capture beautiful views of the countryside with mountains in the background. Then there is the wine; absolutely superb. Longshadows offers many varietals and styles, my bet is the dump buckets are still empty by days end. This winery is only open on event weekends and by appointment.
