Fun drive and an excellent day trip to enjoy the mountain and great Pacific Northwest! There is a number of trails that are easily navigated so is family friendly.

This has to be one of the best easy hikes in the park. I recommend going clockwise because a lot of your walking will be facing the mountain and the views are more spectacular. If you go counter-clockwise, the mountain will be at your back.

beautiful views of the mountain reflecting in the Lake. Nice flat and easy trail. Great alpine flowers.

I've driven over Chinook Pass many times over the years, but yesterday was the first time I took the Tipsoo Lake-Naches Peak Loop. The hike is easy best in late summer (highway 410 closes down during winter) as snow tends to stick around up there. If you go down to Dewey Lake from the trail, it adds difficulty and another 3 miles to your trip. There can be bugs, but we got lucky with a slight breeze which kept the misquitoes away. We hike quite a bit up the I-90 corridor, so it's time to discover Rainier!

the walk is very nice and the view is amazing. it is a bit outside of the national park towards the forest but it is a very nice trail.

This a relatively easy hike. Three miles total and only 600 feet of elevation. You get fantastic views of Mt. Rainier as well. I have done this hike many times and love it.

While visiting family in Yakima we decided to drive back over Chinook Pass which I have never been over before and once we got to the top we stopped at Tipsoo Lake and the views of Mt. Rainier were just stunning! A not miss drive and there are plenty of hiking trails in the area.

Very pretty lake right out of Chinook Pass. Adding on the Naches Loop is well worth it. Very mucky in spring. Quite busy.

This hike is a great loop for families. The terrain is easy. The scenery is wonderful. We love the wildflowers. In the fall there are berries, bears and elk bugling. The views of the mountain are unbelievably beautiful.

i expect more of it. But a local cloudy weather area after a very cold spring made that the lake was still at the end of July with plenty of ice an a lot of snow next to it.Plenty of people at this stop.

This is the place where you get the same shots as the professionals. Mt. Rainier just blasts onto the scenery with impressive grandeur. It is surrounded here, at this overlook by alpine meadows, a pristine lake and easy trails that almost anyone can do. The scenery is breathtaking and there are many side trails that can lead you to further up the mountain pass, even on top of the Mt. Rainier N.P. sign. This was one of my favorite stops in the park, certainly one of the most picturesque.

Easy enough for the entire family, pretty enough that you'll definitely want your camera. Weather can be an issue here and snow does not melt off the trail until mid summer.

On one of our days in Mount Rainier National Park we visited the Tipsoo Lake area which is really beautiful. We left early enough in the morning (around 8.30am), took a picnic so we didn't have to rush to go back. When we got there, we were one of the only ones there...only a few other cars were in the parking lot at this time. From the parking lot you can just follow the trails that you are interested in. There just the Tipsoo Lake Loop trail and this is worth it for a nice stroll. You get the best view from the further lake towards Mount Rainier. From here you can also follow a trail that is part of the Naches Peak Loop Trail if that's the trail you'd want to do. We started at the smallest lake near the parking lot, kept following the trail and soon got to Tipsoo Lake. We walked around the lake and from here we had beautiful views of Mount Rainier and Yakima Peak. We happened to be there when the wild flowers were in full bloom and wow that made everything even prettier. It was hot and sunny, but up here it was fairly comfortable without too many bugs buzzing around and very little people as well. We really enjoyed our y day at this lake as it is so serene and so beautiful. I loved how calm it was and how the wild flowers surrounded the lake. We ended up following a short part of the Naches Peak Loop Trail and went across the highway. To our surprise we bumped into beautiful Upper Tipsoo Lake...wow, this was so beautiful as well. So, if you have some time and you are at Tipsoo Lake make the short walk across the highway to walk around Upper Tipsoo Lake. I thought it was very beautiful here and very serene as well!We stayed in Packwood so we followed highway US 12 north, you will come to a junction to turn left onto highway WA 123 towards Mount Rainier NP. Follow the 123 for about 16 miles until you see a sigh to turn right onto Highway WA 410. Drive about 3 miles and you will see a big parking lot on the left. This is where we parked, but you can park further up too along the road...there are only few parking spots here though.

While visiting and hiking in the Sunrise area we took a short side trip to Tipsoo Lake. It is a magnificent display of wildflowers and the lake there, while quite small, is very scenic. It was so calm the day we were there it reflected the surroundings like a mirror. Trails around the lake are very easy.

Thought that this was a nice short walk (just around the lake). Would like to have done more walking in this area as there seemed to be a lot of trails, but we were on a coach ride and was given limited time there. Scenery was outstanding as it was a nice clear and sunny day and the fields full or wild flowers were amazing.
