This fabulous old theater/opera house invites you to step back into time to view live performances in a small and comfortable setting replete with touches of the grandeur of old. It has been restored to it's turn-of-the-century condition and the lovely architecture can be as entertaining as the shows. As a bonus, the charming little historic town in which it's located boasts an old-fashioned square with multiple options for dining and shopping. It's well worth the trip just to see a show, but come early to take in all the town has to offer as well! We were just there for a performance of Agatha Christie's "The Spider's Web" which was very well done.

The building is over 100 years old but it is in beautiful condition. The seats are so comfortable and they rock, very pleasant to sit in for 2 hours. The production was Agatha Christie's The spider Web and the cast did a great job, everyone in our group enjoyed it. I highly recommend visiting this charming old town and the Opera House.

We toured this in the daytime and it was beautiful. I'd love to watch an Opera there 1 day. Our kids said that it was spooky yet they liked it lol. Why they said that I don't know. Nice bathrooms and an elevator. It's worth looking at. Kinda cool considering an Opera in a small town. And there is much more to see in this small town.

Always directed well. Appropriate scenery. Plays are some of the best I've attended anywhere. Lots of local and community talent that take on big city playhouse themes. Support this every chance I get. Better than going to the movies. Saturday matinees sometimes offered.

My husbands Father is from Abbeville SC. He wanted to visit and relive memories of his boyhood visits . The Opera lHouse, which in the 50's was a movie theatre, is a great tribute to Abbeville. The restoration is beautiful you can tell that someone put a lot love into restoring it. We went in several shops and enjoyed the bargains in art, food and décor we found. We look forward to going back again.

What a treat to find such an authentic theater in our area! The seats were extremely comfortable and the acoustics were good, as was the performance. Abbeville itself is a jewel of a small town and well-worth a visit to both its Opera House and its charming downtown square.

Have been to numerous plays here and each has been very good. Most of the plays are top notch and if the play was just ok it was only because it wasn't in my area of interest. The playhouse is well kept and a unique part of history.

Theater is generally open for casual self-tour, with no charge.Local theater company is quite good, and has frequent forays into the excellent range. Cost of play tickets is very reasonable.I recommend scheduling a weekend visit to Abbeville with accommodations at the Belmont Inn (across the street from the theater). Dining wonderful since arrival of new owners.

The Abbeville Opera House on the Square in Abbeville, SC is a great place to take in a play. I have been there a few times. There is plenty of parking around the Square and a few places to eat. My only negative is that the seats are a bit uncomfortable for me.

We enjoyed a nice play one evening. The atmosphere is great. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the performance.I heard several others complain about the cigarette smoking by one of the actresses during the play - and I was told it happens in almost every play. I assume she can't go without a smoke that long. The stench was distracting from the play and very inconsiderate in a small venue.It would be really nice if the opera house was also used for musical performances throughout the year, I would visit more often.

My husband and I have attended several plays at the Abbeville Opera House. The building is like stepping back in time, wonderfully preserved. The casts, while always local, are excellent and well-rehearsed. The prices are exceptionally reasonable. If you plan to go to one of the productions, plan to spend the weekend. The small town of Abbeville, South Carolina, is a lovely place to visit. The town square has wonderful shops and there are quite a few restaurants on and off the town square. You can also plan to visit the Burt Stark Mansion. Highly recommend.

Excellent acoustics and comfortable seating. Like stepping back in time. The cast, while locals, were excellent...much more similar to a traveling group (which visited the theater in its heyday.)The interior of the theater is STUNNING!
