It is very informative and well done. Worth the time to visit and learn about the reactors. They also have a great display on the development of Lake Keowee.

I have visited the World of Energy countless times over the past twenty plus years. Some things have changed and some have not but each time I go I learn something new. It's fun to get a reminder on the interactions of Jocassee, Keoweek, and Hartwell! Great for kids; a good place to visit on a rainy day!

We learned so much at the World of Energy. Though it was a big Duke Power commercial, we felt the experience and knowledge gain was worth overlooking the "plugs"

We take visitors and children. It provides a great explanation of our local nuclear power plant in easily understandable terms,

Few hands on activites. There are areas four people can sit and watch a video. Hard to hear with a lot of people coming, going and talking. We were unfortunate to have loud rude people behind us. Nice if you love to learn about energy.

This isn't an actual tour of the nearby nuclear plant, but you can view the plant from an observation window near the end of the tour. There are several rooms, some with impressive displays. You walk from room to room and watch a video in each room. The website says you can easily spend "hours" visiting. We were there an hour, hour and a half at tops. I guess you could eek out a longer visit by walking down to the lake for a picnic.Pros:~ Free to get in~ Not crowded. (We were the only family there during our visit.)~ Interesting information for adults.~ Interesting displays for kids.~ Ice cold air if you're looking for a break from the heat on the lake.~ Cool topographical map laid out in the lobby with nearby locations that light up. ~ Did I mention it was free?Cons:~ A little cheesy. The videos didn't seem very recent and at times it feels like an advertisement for Duke Energy. (Surprise, surprise.)~ The audio was out in two separate rooms, maybe that's been fixed?~ Two of the (dated) video games were out of order.~ At a glance the Butterfly garden appeared small, and we didn't see any butterflies. There were PLENTY of bees though, which was enough to keep us from exploring the garden further.~ The "wildlife habitat" is one small room with stuffed (taxidermy) animals. Not real animals.~ The "several indoor ponds and aquariums" are really one little aquarium with one trout, and a small koi pond. My kids (6 and 8) were not impressed.Overall, it was an interesting diversion to beat the crazy heat of the day while we were vacationing at Lake Keowee, but probably not something I'd just recommend people to go visit. YMMV though.

Great free self-guided tour for the kids and me. Not the actual site, but a learning center. It was good learning for all.

Recently visited the World of Energy at the Oconee Nuclear Station on Lake Keowee. We spent about 3 hours learning about nuclear energy, the lakes of the area that were constructed for the needs of the station that included a hands on demonstration in the theater area and a short movie. We also toured the rest of the building as well as having a picnic in the picnic area. Take a walk further down the picnic trail to the helicopter pad and boat dock. Nice lake views there. It was very educational for adults and youth alike.

We enjoy stopping here when we're in the area. Lake view with picnic area and video inside. They allow the facility for use for local organizations and clubs.

I visited this attraction while in Greenville, SC for a conference. It take a bit to get there, but the drive is beautiful. The attraction is free, including parking. It is very education and has lots of information. It does get a bit cheesy at time, boasting the company and how good it is. But past that it is an excellent source of knowledge. I wish there was a gift shop to get some souvenirs of my time there.

Very interesting and informative about using water to generate thermal energy! Definitely worth the trip.

Duke Power's World of Energy is a great place to spend an hour, even two if you can get the kids to slow down and stretch it out. Bring the kids, let them learn about nuclear energy via interactive exhibits, about the hydro dam system, the vintage era of electric power, and the natural resources of the Carolinas. Bonus: excellent air conditioning system, so if you're looking for a place to cool off and keep the youngsters entertained during the heat of summer, this is as good as the movies. (And it's free.)Restrooms always manage to look brand new and spotless. I know that's a weird thing to notice, but there it is. There are always art exhibits in the main lobby, good for an extra 15 minutes of perusal. In warmer weather, there's a butterfly garden and walkway just outside. World of Energy is an impressive and fun visitor's center.
