You can get to any part of downtown and around most of the city on a wonderful bike trail and never have to be on the roads or streets.

It is a good 20 miles so it takes a while, but it is definitely worth it to go all the way around, and see a lot of Sioux Falls.

One of the things we like most about Sioux Falls are the fabulous bike trails. With 30 or so miles that loop the city and follow pretty close to the river, you can ride as far as you want or as little as you want, all on paved trails. Pass the back side of some of the zoo exhibits, or exit the trail to scoot downtown. Plenty of places to park as starting points, including Falls Park, where you can leave your vehicle, use the restrooms, and pick a direction. The trail has various combinations of flat or hilly sections, but few are so steep they can't be climbed. Feel the wind in your face -- ride!

The city of Sioux Falls has something to be proud of- amazing bike trails! you can go on your bike all around the city in a beautiful and safe environment. Be outdoors and get exercise. This bike trail system is one of the best I have seen in the country and beyond. Get out there and see it for yourself!

The bike path is now completed which now offers a 21 mile 8 foot wide bike path. The path surrounds Sioux Falls and follows the Big Sioux River and downtown Sioux Falls as well as a scenic tour through the Sioux Falls Park!! The 21 mile bike trip at a moderate pace takes about 2 hours.

Whether you walk, job, stroll, or bike, the 26 mile trail that rounds around downtown Sioux Falls is a great feature. You travel through a variety of topographies and through parks and long straightaways as well. Don't underestimate the need to be in shape if you want to ride the entire trail from your start - back to your start point. I ventured out and made it about half way before my legs could not do it further. Just work up to long distances. Plenty of places to rest and enjoy the scenery.

I enjoyed walking on the bike trails. It is a really nice place to get in some exercise and it goes on what seems like forever!

I ran the entire trail as a training run for a marathon. The portion by the airport was a bit desolate, but from Falls Park to the other side of the city you go through one park after another with green space in between. Water and bathrooms in a few spots. There is quite a stretch from just west of the airport to Falls Park with no water. Trail doesn't cross roads, which is nice, and gives a nice tour of the city.

I walked up to the River trail from my hotel and did a 7 mile RT walk. The paths are very safe and paved and wide. There wasn't any lighting so don't think I would go here solo after dark. The view etc from the trail is very nice. There is little altitude change so it is not a real challenge but was being enjoyed by walkers, joggers, bikers, families etc.Would recommend this as a nice leisurely walk. I was only on a small section of it but it does run round trip and is about 20 miles in length.

The bike trail is about a 20 mile loop around the city. The majority of the path runs alongside the river. There are many places to stop off and use the bathroom or get a drink of water if needed. It goes past golf courses, the zoo, the airport, lots of parks, and through the falls. It usually takes me a little over 2 hours to ride the entire trail, depending on how windy it is that day.

The city has constructed and maintained an absolutely great bike trail that encircles the city and airport. Very scenic in the south through parks and along a small river. For "serious" bikers the trail may lack opportunity to bike fast; but for most and especially families, it's great. We visit the city primarily for the biking.

I chose the hotel we stayed in at Sioux Falls, SD based on the trip advisor comment that it was near a bike path. The Hilton Garden Inn is effectively right at the start of a 20 mile trip through country parks and around the airport ending up back at Falls park. It is an easy to moderate ride depending on the headwind but what a great way to spend a couple of hours. Also I want to shout out to Spoke and Sport Bike Repairs who helped us with a brake problem on my wife's bike. They were extremely helpful and it was an overall great experience

I discovered the Bike Trails as an excellent way to see Sioux Falls with 9 VERY energetic teenagers. The trails follow the river all the way around Sioux Falls and allows you to discover the Falls, Falls Park, Seratoma Park, and various other areas where we could stop and rest. It took us less than 3 hours to do the entire course, but these were wanna be athletes, so you might have to adjust your total time. We could have rented the bikes for just the morning ultimately instead of paying an all day rental charge. Ultimately, it was a 5 star hit for our group as there was something for everyone. The exercise, the beautiful places along the river and falls, the unexpected deer that crossed our path, all helped to create conversations. We will be doing this again!
